Your video was a lifesaver. I took detailed pictures of my clips orientation before I removed them but the SD card in my camera went corrupt. Thanks! ...also worth mentioning, my replacement OEM clips are not the same colors as the old ones that were removed. Identical, but all black.

Very helpful to see how this is done. Volvo calls this drip moldings btw. Depending on color code they are very expensive, discontinued, or both. I bought some years ago just to have, and I'm finally getting around to installing them.

Was just riding along on the interstate, and Whooosh!!!! Tha thang came flying out on my right side. No warning, No nothing! I literally was like wtf driving and looking at it get ran over at the time not knowing what happened or what it was, so when I get out to see; I get out I see this trim. Turned around went and got it and it’s bent and defective for the most part but the rear is still hanging on. If you have a 2000s model Volvo I would check to make sure the are attached and stable and showing no signs. But great video.

Lucky you got yours. Ours went came off and I thought it was just some rubber window shield. Now I want to find a white one and it seems to be discontinued.

They adjust along the diagonal sliders to locate their distance from the sides, so that the moulding is aligned properly.

Interesting fact, these rain strips have a tendency to make noise in cold winter days especially if there is ice underneath them. Both the front and rear windshield will make these cracking noises - the noise will appear to be coming from inside the cabin, but in fact it comes from the outside. The reason is some clips just break so the strips are not tight secured. The fix for this is very easy : pull gently along the strips (along all windshields) to locate the areas when the strips don't stay tight against the glass. Then squeeze small amounts (a bead) of transparent outdoor silicone underneath these places - do this in summer time. I did so and those annoying creaks stopped completely.

I have been going to the junkyard a lot later trying to master taking the top roof long molding off with no breakage of the clips...it is extremely hard. I have collected some of the blue clips I know they are older than the yellow but to my eye they look exactly the same the only difference is the color. Am I right?

I really love to watch your videos and how you do things with just 1 hand. Perhaps using a tripod or some kind of stand would make life so easy 😉👍

I do usually have a tripod with me, some things are not easy to film properly. I tried looking into action cameras but they have too large angle view. Thanks for the comment

Good afternoon friend. my friezes are damaged the rubber on the glass. can I remove the rest of the rubber and replace it with a silicone wire?

Ok, nice vid, but what about replacing the rubber part of the trim.My plastic part of the trims are fine but the rubber part is showing age and cracking at the top of the windshield.So is the rubber replacable?
@Peppermint15 жыл бұрын
Indeed, the rubber black part gets brittle and chips away (sometimes it also gets damaged by window scrappers when cleaning the ice off the windshield in colder climates), from what I see it's molded along the plastic/colored part and not separable, they needs to be replaced together
@reallyhappenings55973 жыл бұрын
@@Peppermint1 Yes the rubber of these mouldings seems to be "vulcanized" to the plastic. They must be replaced together, it is an expensive part from Volvo.

On my street there are still several of these, there are still many on the road, being now at least 13 years old. Very good cars for cold weather, these engines simply don't care about low temperatures

I tried purchasing those "drip molding' for my 2006 S60. Left one is $93, great... right one is $389!! WTF, do you know where to get them? Please rpley here, thanks, USA, NYC
@Peppermint15 жыл бұрын
Ouch!... I would definitely look for a used one either from Ebay (but perhaps too expensive to ship because of the size), or rather look on local.google.com for a nearby junkyard, see if they have S60's - these are fairly common. May as well ask on a forum such as www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=9 , the folks there will gladly let you know if there's a better junkyard in your area. That would be by far the more affordable option (then just get new clips from Volvo)

@@highvoltage12v Agreed. Volvo is known for the high cost of several genuine parts, however the cost for some parts just doesn't make much sense.
