This video saved me a lot of heartache and money! So thank you. I got that "slow down or shift up" message with a rough running engine. All kinds of worst case scenarios ran through my mind...even "Oh, no I don't want to buy a new/used car now with these inflated prices!" After watching this video, I discovered the problem ignition coil by finding which coil did NOT change the RPM/running of the engine. I got a new ignition coil for $62 and replaced it and now it runs like new. However, I read that the spark plugs and ignition coils should be changed after 100K, so I bought those on Amazon for about $140. I'll change them all when they come in.

Really usefull video! I got this message on my S60 T6 3.0L 2011 yesterday and the car was shaking like blender! then I saw the "Reduce Speed or shift up" on the dash which was really scary for me, I made my way back home after driving 65km in a very careful manner. This morning after watching your video I figure out the second ignition coil is not functioning anymore. Gonna buy a new one to replace the dead one while the performance one is coming. Thank you again! I was really hurried that could be the transmission or gear box

Thank you so much... I had this happen on my way to Arizona in the mountains area. It freaked me out cause the car didn't want to move anymore. I put it on neutral and back to drive and it started moving again but with a heavy sound.

I owe you more than a subscribe. Your video saved my day & week! Exactly what occurred on my 2011 XC90 w/ 138,000 miles on #4 cylinder. Great idea to unplug coils to find INOP coil and/or spark plug. No need with mine as my coil was beginning to melt. Thank You!

Make sure to check the 20amp fuse. After replacing the ignition coil, car still wouldn’t start. On my 2013 XC90 it was fuse #10 under the hood. Once replaced, car started up normally

Its strange as exactly same thing happened on my V60 T6 3.0T last Tuesday, same warning on dash and limped car home, next day looked at engine and was also coil number 2, was literally melted and as you describe the rorrible burnt smell, replaced all 6 plugs as well. Volvo parts incredibly expensive unfortunately and went with after market Denso plugs and Denso coil. Would also recommend changing PCV oil trap on 3.0 & 3.2 and fuel rail regulator when over 100,000K just for preventive measures. Good video buddy 👍

Im getting the same message on my 2007 s80 v8 checked all coils they're good, changed all 8 spark plugs. Also to mention im limited to 3k rpm but if i turn the car on and off or hold the brake and give gas as im starting the car to reach over 3k rpm the car just perfect with no misfire. Thanks any suggestions would be appreciated

@@kelseyouellette8710 since it won’t let you rev up past a certain point it sounds like your computer has put the engine into “limp mode”, which is done to try and prevent more severe damage to the engine. May be a problem with your timing chain? That’s the problem I had on my 2013 xc90

I just replaced my plugs and I did what you said and pulled the plug harness off each coil one at a time and found #6 didn't change the engine sound , so I went and bought a new coil and its still doing it .. do you think its the harness to that coil ?
@man.machine.element5364 жыл бұрын
Could very well be. One thing I forgot to mention in the video, as it was not an issue for me, was to check your fuses to make sure one didn't blow when your coil went out. On this XC90 it was it was under the hood, fuse 10 (ignition coils, engine control module). Check your manual for the correct fuses.
