Even if i'm not a trucker and never driven a truck, just a fan of them, i believe in everything shown on this video because of real footage how they behave on the road, i hope it is really big impovement :)

They didn't need to look at handling - the old fh was great in this respect - this suggests an incredibly thorough redesign! It looks fantastic, cab room and visibility looks hugely improved. I'm sold. I want one.

I've seen few sources who really understand what a good handling truck is based on experience, including the manufacturing companies themselves. The Volvo truck until recently had good directional stability, however the great amount of wheel slop really detracted from this on less than perfect and poor road surfaces and particularly when little clearance is available through construction zones for example when contending with uneven road surfaces and traffic in the next lane. Recent changes in new models have tightened up the wheel, but for some reason there is a loss of the directional stability that existed in previous models. The best handling trucks by far that I've experienced were Western Star, and later the Columbia/Century models where a great improvement in handling was seen beginning in '02 or '03. This was only a year or two after the acquisition of Western Star by the parent company of Freightliner at that time, and the similarity in unique and excellent handling qualities leads me to believe that the same person was responsible for excellent handling characteristics for trucks in both companies. No other trucks have even come close in how these were set up to perform. Due to driver complaints of the wheel being too easy to turn, at one time Freightliner applied a friction device that did not change handling characteristics but required more effort to turn the wheel. The same mistake seems also to be made by Volvo in applying a friction device to please drivers who may have no clue about truck handling or maintaining lane position. The Cascadia returned to old form entirely lacking any directional stability. More recently however, there appears to have been some improvement in Cascadia models.

I know that you can't import American models to Europe for commercial truck use but shouldn't you be able to import European ones to the US?
@NicoleVolvoFH6 жыл бұрын
plaqueconspiracy we tried but motor vehicle of US has an issue against them,they are afraid that the Americans might love them too much and their own truck will go instinct..

They are more aerodynamic than it seems. A nosed truck can be claimed to be more aerodynamic, but that is mainly because it is lower = less front surface. With a ordinary trailer you get the front of the trailer like a wall behind the cab. A flatnose is as high as the trailer.

Glad they finally made the steering rake better. No need to be hunched over the wheel again.

There is a limited axle pressure at 8,5T on that.. Probobly thats why it's an option.

'Superior handling'? It feels like the suspension and steering parts are made from wool! What's the point of a parcel shelf that is smooth and shiny? All everything ever does (satnav, phone, glasses etc) is slide off onto the floor when cornering!

These are superior trucks, but I don't like the front of the truck too much. Starting to get used to it very slowly, but still. The interior is beautiful though. Cannot wait 'till this truck is ready for ETS2, since it's currently in development :D

Probably, but a nose truck would be much harder to drive on the scandinavian roads. Especially in Norway.
