Thank you! For a very clear and good video. You show all the important parts in a clear and good way. But I have seen several different videos where they do this job like you do here in the video here. But all the others were not so careful to show how to tension the cam belt. But the others have loosened the four screws to the high-pressure pump a little, after they had zeroed the engine for both camshaft and crankshaft, and put in the locking pin to the high-pressure pump. According to the others, this should be important so that the cam belt can be tensioned correctly. But you never loosened the four screws to the high-pressure pump. Did you forget this, or do you have the same thought about this as I have. That it does not help to loosen the screws to the high-pressure pump, because you do not loosen the four screws to the camshaft gear. If you were to loosen them to the camshaft gear, then it would give a better tension on the cam belt, all the way around. But if you loosen the four screws to the camshaft gear, then there is a risk that you change the camshaft, and that is not good. Thanks! From Tommy

Hi! I'm wondering if it's okay to put some Loctite, (Thread Lock), in the threads of the Nut that you use to tighten the Cam Belt Tensioner? Thanks! From Tommy.

The four screws on the high pressure pump should be loose as you feed the belt on so with the crank in the correct position you can feed the belt on to the crank over the first idler then as the fuel pump pulley is loose the belt will be able to fit the camshaft pulley correctly. Then all of the timing marks will be correct. Half tooth out on the crank is not really acceptable

Thanks, will try next time!

I just advance the camshaft sprocket by hand like 1-1,5tooth. Belt will be loose between the pump and idler pulley when fitted this way. When adjusting tightness the camshaft will move to the proper mark and belt will tighten on the idler and pump area. I found this way easiest and fastest on this engine. Crankshaft stays on same positions too this way and doesnt move. First times when i did these engines i tried to loosen the pump bolts. Didn't help me. Then trying to force belt on to idler last or camshaft sprocket and timing always moves. Thus i just advance the cam and belt just slides with no problems.

but when doing it this way the fuel pump has to be locked. Otherwise it is done wrong and pump timing will move. If pump is locked while adjusting thightness it will be good

Very nice. Looks like the 4 cylinder d4 engine (d4204t5?) It would help if you could also include the engine code in the description. I've got a v70 that needs this job done. Looks exactly the same, but I'm not 100% sure. Knowing the engine code would help.

Hi, will definitely from now on will do it. Engine code is D4204T14 for this Volvo
