As someone who has walked away from a full speed head on collision in one of these, I can vouch for its safety credentials. Bought another one within a week after the way it performed.

@@incomingshell3268 I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard a few years ago that NOBODY has ever died of their injuries after a crash in an XC90. If that is in fact true, what more could anyone ask of a car to keep their family safe?

You mentioned how the rear center seat was useful so that the child can get closer to the parents but forgot to mention that it also functions as a booster seat for kids. That is probably my favorite feature of Volvo's interior which I think should be the standard in all vehicles.

I think this video is about the facelift version. In these version the 2.5T and 2.9 T6 weren’t available anymore. The V8 is known for its reliability. 2.5T also had some issues with cracked cilinder walls and coolant problems

fuel consumtion is overrated.. unless you drive a ecobox most cars are about the same on fuel dependant on the size. 7-10l per 100km.. and this is a big family car. get a good deal today on a xc90, you will have an already depreciated unit that does okay on fuel.

I went from a 2010 Corolla to a 2013 XC90. I drive at least 25 miles a day. Still fill up every 2 weeks. Costs me 70 instead of 40. 60 bucks a month difference for an increase in luxury and safety. Big whoop.

I don’t know. These things are money pits. You’d wanna be crazy buying an old automatic too. The fuel consumption is poor. Road tax and maintenance is high. I see people buying used XC90s and quickly getting rid of them again. They’re not even much fun to drive. To me it’s a WAG mobile. I prefer the V70 I’ve had a D5 and I now have a 2004 T5 manual with only 90,000 miles on the clock which I bought 4 years ago with 62,000 miles on the clock. I only run it a couple of times a week now or less since I no longer have to drive. I’ve had no real issues with this vehicle since I bought it. It’s never broken down or refused to start. Strict maintenance is crucial on these old buses and a Volvo is not cheap to maintain but the comfort and road holding is hard to beat and as I’ve worked in the car sales industry for 5 years, I’ve yet to drive a luxury vehicle that matches the comfort and I’ve driven them all!

I put 90k on mine and outside of standard maintenance I only had to replace a small gasket. Keep up with maintenance schedule and it will be extremely reliable. Fuel consumption is average when you compare it with other suvs…not sure what you’re expecting.
