Thank you for showing us what we are in for !Mine was excessively rusty. Both fuel stubs on top broke by touching them to remove the hoses.

This man does a very thorough job replacing the pre fuel pump in tank. The Electronic noise is very annoying to have to put up with!

Hi just bought a 1983 242 automatic with 200k miles, was driving it to work this week always started fine and drove great. On the way home from work today on the freeway I lost power and couldnt accelerate, engine was bogging down. pulled into a parking lot foot barely on the pedal barely any power and as I pulled into a parking spot it died. Tried to start and cranks and cranks. Fuel pump checked and kicks on, has spark, and timing belt is good.
thanks I have a 1992 volvo and it still works well

Andre Richard, I also have a 1992 Volvo 960 and I am beginning to suspect an issue with the pre-pump because I'm getting odd fuel symptoms. Mine only has 170,359 kms and was never winter driven. What is the mileage on your 1992 Volvo?

For some reason my fuel sock just doesn't go on. Both parts were the same brand on FCP euro. The sock just doesn't snug on to the end of the pump. Any advice?

ohm out the float while you are there. Check if you have power before tearing it apart. Clean it all first, clean above all. before taking it apart.

Great video! If the unit seems very correded, its better to cut off the rubber fuel lines than to try to pull them off, the fuel pipes usually corrode from the bends and cant take any force without breaking. (I have broken two units by this way, lol)
@2manycatsforadime8 жыл бұрын
if you replace the two fuel lines what size are they and where do you make the connections? Isn't the fuel line with a flair connector so it is special?

Greetings from Hawaii I subscribe to your pages & have watched many many of your vids & you have helped me understand many things. I too have a 2009 XC70 & I LOVE IT> I have seen a bunch of your videos now & since you seem to know a lot about most everything about these cars, perhaps you could help with the Fuel Pump Control Module Replacement. I have a 2009 Volvo Xc70 T6 wagon with a 185,000 miles. Great car. I have Bluedriver so I can monitor what is going on. Lately now for at least a month on occasionally & very randomly it wont start. I have changed the FP Sensor . So I get very low fuel pressure like 30 or 32 psi & when it is running fuel pressure is 59 or 62 psi. So I have heard mixed reviews on changing the fuel pump as often it is the PEM. Where is the PEM on my car? Ir seems a lot easier & cheaper to try a used PEM from EBAY to try & fix this issue which seems to be getting worse. Any Insight you can give me would be so appreciated.
