Do you fancy narrating an audiobook on Audible? Although an author can contact you via ACX, you can also use the platform to search for specific genres that will match your voice.

Appreciate the help couch! I'm just starting out and could stand to learn everything I can and more so, appreciate every bit of advice I can get. Also about how long would you recommend refining my craft before jumping into looking for actual work?

Ooh that is a piece of string question. So long as your audio quality is good, you are confident with your editing and performance, then I would dive in! Auditions are a great way to practice and, you never know, you may get hired in the process. Good luck.

3 years into this, and it still takes me 3 hours to finish something 3 minutes long. So, I don't think I'll be doing audiobooks.

You should allow around 5 hours to produce 1 hour of audiobook or other long form narration. Your 3 hours for 3 minutes is a bit on the long side and it may be you’re trying to be too perfect.
