True, in vdL's country Germany train system gets even worse every year.

yes exactly In Hungary (where I live) the state owned train company, MÁV advises not to use their trains. They exist for one purpose and they can't fulfill it. Most trains are very old, have no AC, the floor is a meter high up and the only way up is very steep stairs (I am young, fit and able-bodied but if I have a bigger backpack even I have problems climbing up). The trains are slow (always below 80km/h but at some places it's 60km/h), constantly late and unreliable, they break down a lot and replacement buses suck too (they, too tend to break down). Yet, sometimes there's no other way to get to places other than train or car (which many people don't have) in the two, westernmost counties (Vas and Győr-Moson-Sopron), there's another train company called GYSEV-Raabenbahn which surprise surprise works. It's not owned by the Hungarian state but sadly they're trying to change that

@@eddastrohmayer251 I just watched a video yesterday, explaining that the rail service in Germany will probably now get even worse, but that's because there's a major overhaul of the whole network starting soon. That should modernize the network and reduce delays and increase speeds across the country. In Czechia, for example, they're constantly modernizing the fleet and building new high-speed rails. I'm cautiously optimistic about the TEN-T project.

It's hard to blow on the souls of the dumb sheep to vote for you and at the same time vote sensibly in the parliament... So I can to some extent understand why they vote privately (public voting has the advantage of showing people the gore but the drawback that voters are rarely sensible enough to understand reason... the joy of democracy - the worst choice but better than the rest due to the human nature...).

After all, you are the chosen ones who know better what dumb sheep need than dumb sheep themselves. No politician is perfect, and she certainly has her own issues, but so far, I like the plan she is proposing. She mentioned EU Reform, which in my opinion, is the most important topic of all. The issue here is that bureaucracy only works in one direction. upwards. If a citizen needs something fixed or paperwork you need to jump 55 hoops, while they just need to send you one envelope. The fact that those who voted for or against are kept secret says enough about the transparency of European politics. A direct vote, a referendum by the people if it were the case here should be secret. The representation of the will of the people is gone here, since we got to vote for those that vote her in. Does that make sense?

Why blame the EU for something they don't have the powers to change? Besides, she said we need treaty reforms, it's really up to the EU members to do those changes as the EU has limited powers in that and can only deal with the cards the members have given it. I do think more democracy is needed at an EU level, but treaty change will likely be needed for that to happen, so it's really up to the members to make that happen, if they don't, then the blame firmly goes on them not the EU.

It's hard for blame someone for problems when they don't have the powers to fix those problems, and when it comes to living standards, two factors are at play, one is external factors like the Russian war in Ukraine which bumped up inflation, the other are the lack of reforms by governments of the individual countries, a change at the EU would have very little impact on that as the real problem is with the governments of the individual countries.
