For anyone else who enjoyed the backing track and was wondering.... it's called "Uncle Achmeds Porchtime Jamboree" by Nathaniel Johnstone ..very cool jam. Excellent Monkey Hut as well. Inexpensive and will keep the rain off my 420 garden just before harvest. Thanks for sharing

Used trampolines for the arches, some 1x4s of 1x6s for Purloins billboard tarps for the cover. A couple of ratchet straps and some mobile home anchors so it won’t fly away with the 1st storm might consider leaving a foot or more open at the bottom for air circulation

@Jake Von Slatt - how high is the structure - wondering if I can fit our 10 foot high tent underneath it
@JakevonSlatt6 жыл бұрын
At the center it's about 7 feet high. You can make the center higher by staking the legs closer together or you can lengthen the legs with a union and an additional length of pipe (use PVC cement).

@JakevonSlatt Жыл бұрын
This design uses the standard 10’ long sections, it’s just over 6’ high in the center. If you add length to the sections you will likely need to add guy wires to keep it stable in the wind.

Question, how is the middle support pvc not bowing and flimsy? Is it the fact the spacing is short? The tension on it from the outside/legs pushing on it? Cuz I tried to make a money hut awhile ago and it literally just fell apart.

Why not use a disc grinder for the re-bar points ?
@JakevonSlatt3 жыл бұрын
I totally could have just cut the rebar with an angle grinder at an angle. I did the points because you are always exhausted when you arrive at Burningman by bus and it's usually about 100F and the playa surface is an alkali hard-pack so anything that makes getting your shade up quick and easy is a big plus!

@JakevonSlatt5 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? I was putting a point on the steel rebar to make them easier to drive in to the ground--where I use this (Burning Man) the ground is very hard. Also I use a "flame torch" on PVC all of the time to shape and bend it, it's a valuable tool if you work with this material.
@JudiChristopher5 жыл бұрын
It takes a lot of heat to burn PVC... that is why you can run HOT water through it without it melting.
@nandoa69125 жыл бұрын
Sweet Jesus John!, he took that extra step because maybe the soil on his land is hard, but generally speaking, you wouldn't need to do that to rebar since it's so narrow. Jake did an exceptional job and just showed me how to save some cash.
