for those who have never worked in mainland europe.because of the type of construction ,the bricks and the mortar.itthe laying method is different.working out of a barrow or tub is easier and goes faster than if you were to use spots.the scaffold systems are designed for this.ít´s apples and pears.

Exactly its all about tidyness and then speed. Takes years to master!

I hate how people downplay the importance of Labor. White collars are ripe for getting dirty. Architects can design all the buildings they want but that doesn't get them built. Nothing gets accomplished without Labor.

Hi, i'm a bricklayer from Canada and i'm interested in knowing what types of connectors are mostly used in the U.S. and the U.K. regardless of construction type. Wooden, concrete, blocks walls... thank you guys.
@brickclimber16 жыл бұрын
we have the same kind of bricks here in canada, i suppose it just creates more surface area for the mortar to bond to.

if you think you should fill every frog before laying to grind down you´ve got a screw loose.how spreading a lighter bed.thanks for those standard gauges i´d almost forgot them.

frog up end of debate
@stilln68la15 жыл бұрын
it´s almost unheard of in modern brick construction.go back a hundred years or more when the whole construction was in brick and it was very common especially in internal walling.40 odd brickies all working different parts of the job mistakes were bound to happen.a lot of fasades ended up having a rendered finish.

What's the point of even laying frog bricks if your just going to lay them upside down? Why use a pointing trowel on a wall that size, Is the UK that hot you can't spread for more than one brick?
@deangriffiths97406 жыл бұрын
Whens the masters getting there ????😂😂😂

traps moisture in the brick that cannot drain easily through the mortar

to be honest i have never worked anywhere other than the uk,the comment wasn't aimed at you personally more a generalization of bwk,thought it may be helpful to others less informed!blatantly obvious it maybe but you yourself had"almost forgotten"standard gauge!as for being drunk or diving in if theres an error in what i said feel free to point it out!i know that the perfect work scenario is rare but surely good basics apply majority of the time?

frog should never be upside down,if nhbc clock that you are in shit!i know it help s to grind down but truth be known if things are set out proper and you stay to gauge then you don't have to frog anything,if it's not a bwk measure you adjust gauge to suit i.e 2mm per course -or+.so on the the first lift of(for instance)23 course you could lose or gain 46mm!make up a guage rod to help these pricks who can't read a tape and you're good to go...it's called planning or setting out!!

Even the bricklayer wasn’t filling his joints. Asking for trouble using shit lbc bricks empty joints and frog down certainly not built to last. Like the blind leading the blind. My advice would be, leave it to the professionals. Not the master of ?

Poor layout. Should not have a cut in the wall like that. Poor craftsmanship or poor design.
