Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe VS. R Weaver Violet Vibe

Uni-Vibe shoot out. Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe and R Weaver Violet Vibe into the front of a Mesa Boogie Mark V combo. Tone Tubby Nashville Alnico speaker. Fender Strat with Vaughn Skow 1954 Holy Grail pickups (alnico III). Is there a clear winner in a head to head battle of boutique hand made effects vs mass production?

I find the outcome a little mystifying. I own the Micro Vibe and I get rich, deep modulation out of it. I do have to turn to my brightest pickup, but it sounds great. The one you demo here doesn't sound like it has nearly as much flavour as mine. I consider it by far the best sounding uni-vibe clone I've tried.

Well I hope my preference for the Weaver doesn’t make it seem like I’m dumping on the Voodoo Lab, because I do think it’s an excellent vibe and I have no plans to part with it. The quality for the price point can’t be argued with either. But it will be on my backup board for the issues mentioned herein, which could be entirely specific to my pedal. Hopefully I can get a band level video posted because it’s a no brainer. I’ve spent way too much money A/Bing for the sake of A/Bing, and have arrived at the understanding that unless you’re noticing something that you think could truly be improved - leave it alone! Which is why I started exploring other vibe options. Didn’t want to spend the kind of money I’d have to shell out for a Sweet Sound. Dry Bell and JHS are highly reputable, but wanted something a bit more special. I narrowed it down to KR and Weaver. Went with Weaver because I want to support independent artists and builders. He makes each unit one at a time by hand at a reasonable price (given the work involved). Very happy with my decision because it sounds fantastic, and made the improvement I was after. And it’s purple! Haha :) But I’m not surprised you’re happy with the Micro Vibe, because it’s also a great unit. Thanks for watching!
