I have both, it works just fine for me. Are you running the OCD first, because that will make any Vibe or phaser for that matter sound real harsh and squishy. -Andy

been on my pedalboard for over a decade..only pedal thats lasted that long. mines so old it doesn't have the LED light which I've never needed cause trust me-you know when this swirl machine is on, just an amazingly deep sounding pedal.

I prefer filtering effects (phaser, flanger with lots of regen, wahs etc) before dirt in the most part and watery modulation like chorus and flanger with fast speed low regen after which is why I have Od/distortion pedals either side of my flanger and my phaser earlier on.

It uses an incandescent lamp so the rise of the signal is faster than the fall... since thats the way the light pulses ... this gives it that realistic chewy swirl

I'm really doubting between this one and the Malekko Vibrato... can you get the same sounds with this pedal as in the demo of the Malekko? I mean the soft chorus thingy, and the eery sounds with that Radiohead part at the end.. thanks for the good demo's anyway, hope you can reply ;)

whats a lamp and photo based circuit? they sound cheaper than digital components, does that mean i could go make my own pedal that sounds vintage too?
@jordandedomusic12 жыл бұрын
I like modulation before dirt. Seems like the tone gets washed away and turns into a swirly mess with vibe or phaser after the gain source. No right or wrong, only personal preference.
@jazzermonk14 жыл бұрын
@zifirblues i know when i have a fuzz pedal and a boost pedal i have to put the fuzz first in the chain or is loses tone. Btw i prefer the vibe after the shtuff too.

it also has to do with wether or not there's a buffered signal..or true bypass..i find that my dunlop uni-vibe (has a buffered signal..) messes up my true bypass fuzz if i put the vibe first..so i put all (more or less..) true bypass pedals first...J
@kpmurphy6215 жыл бұрын
does it add gain or have a delayed start like the danelectro Cool catvibe? I know they both operate off a photo cell circuit.
@jordandedomusic13 жыл бұрын
@zifirblues I much prefer the sound of modulation before gain. Especially vibes and phasers. When it's after the gain, the effect takes over the sound and tone too much and it becomes a swirling mess! Mods before gain for me.

Be wary of going digital to quickly. The difference between digital and analog is that computers cannot understand the concept of infinity. Therefore, a computer cannot create all of the possibilities for tonal varitation and richness that an analog effect can. As a human being, you have the ability to perceive and recognize infinity and infinite tonal possibilities. Don't let the limitations of a computer cheat you out of that unless you have no other options.

If you're looking for a better sound, cables are such a small factor it's not even worth paying 50 bucks for the planet waves. Guitars don't even put out much over 5-6kHz anyway, you're not missing much with less conductivity.
@yobhsiFehT14 жыл бұрын
@zifirblues If it "Sounds OK," then it's not wrong. That's really the only rule. However, the sound most people tend to prefer is the order you have described. So you're right and wrong:) Oh, other common exceptions would be compression and harmonizer effects. Most harmonizers track better the cleaner signal they see, and most people prefer to compress the signal before distorting it (as opposed to compressing a distorted signal).

I didn't care for the Soul Vibe's wave form. The Micro Vibe is much smoother and more usable (in my opinion) There is a internal trimpot in the Micro Vibe that I beleieve adjusts the wave form... and you might be able to get the Soul Vibe sound
