Ever wonder how aircraft navigated at night before modern ground and space-based navigation methods? Find out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oquZpndrocaoZq8

Glad to hear that. You'll be able to use every piece of navigation equipment in the TBM from videos on my channel. They are all covered. I try to make all my videos to the point because I can't stand watching a video that is 30 minutes long when the part everyone needs in the video is 20 seconds long.

@@thecorporatepilotdad It shows! By the way, here's a suggestion. How about a tutorial on the Standard Overhead Join way of joining a left or right traffic pattern, as used in the UK for airfields. I've just uploaded my poor attempt at doing this at Blackpool, UK, EGNH.

Navigraph is awesome. I have it on my iPad. Having the airplane position on it is very helpful. I once did a long flight and left it running on auto pilot. I took the ipad outside and there was the aircraft position moving along on the map. Navigraph has updated charts for the whole world. I did an ILS approach at Pyongyang, North Korea because it had charts for it. They use the identical Jeppesen charts pilots use.

Any tipps on how to find VORs easily within navigraph? I am still trying to find them visually (based on icon), whichs is a pain
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 3 жыл бұрын
There is not a way to find just the VORs in a search or anything. An easy way, look at the low enroute chart and just follow the airways. They will lead you to a VOR.

Hi, thanks so much for the great quality of your tutorial. Really useful. However, it's sometimes disturbing that your explanations don't follow right on the spot what the image is showing. Like at 3'45" when you say we should set the needle at 202° and you actually go up to 233°... then you explain a bit later that it was on purpose... I had to go back a few times in order to understand.
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 2 жыл бұрын
The course needle is set to 202 degrees, but the heading bug was set to 233 degrees. The 233 degree heading was selected so the airplane could be flown off course to the right.

Thank you for this great video. Much appreciated. I did notice you were using the Heading "HDG" knob a couple of time, I know the first was intended to go off course, the second confused me a bit. Also, it would be great if you could please explain how to use the screen below the PFD/MFD where you dialed the frequencies. Still a great video, thanks
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 4 жыл бұрын
I looked at it and I may have used heading to intercept the course on a smaller intercept angle vs letting this sim do it at 45 (or more sometimes). Use the CRS knob to center the needle and then you can use nav or hdg to follow the course but nav is much easier. I didn't show tuning frequencies because I have it in other videos felt like I was beating a dead horse showing it again. I have a TBM ILS video that shows how to enter frequncies.

Are there different ranges and types of VOR? I'm a bit confused on map settings in TBM VOR range - PFD Map Settings. Are the ranges for map or signal strength of the station?
@thecorporatepilotdad
@thecorporatepilotdad 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. My old VOR video has that info in the beginning. They range from 25 NM to 130NM. TACAN can go 200. DME Can go 200 NM. I'm not sure how it's modeled in FS2020 though.

My dear friend, first of all receive a warm greeting and best wishes of happy new year 2021 to you and the whole family. I wish you the best of life, peace, prosperity and success in all the plans that you undertake in this new year, but above all good health. I am bothering you today because I need your advice and wisdom that experience gives. I have had problems with my airplanes in the sense that when I have to taxi the runways at different airports, the turning radius, the ability to make curves either to exit or enter a runway, is not enough and I got stuck halfway around the curve. How can I increase the turning capacity of the front landing gear to be able to complete a curve without these problems. I see that you, in the different tutorials that you explain, turn the taxiways with impressive ease. Thanks for your help to solve this silly problem that is presenting itself to me. As additional information, I am using the joystick to make curves, I have deactivated the pedals because they also gave me those problems to do this maneuver and I thought it was them but no, with the joystick as well. I think it must be a misconfigured setting or something like that, but I've tried everything and nothing solves it. Greetings, Oswaldo

Oswaldo. Greetings! I do use rudder pedals. I use pedals all the way in one direction and if I need more turn authority I'll use the brake on the side in the direction I'm turning. If I need even more in q multi engine airplane I'll use differential power... increase the power on the side opposite the direction I'm turning.
