Very interesting, especially regarding the motors. I already bought 6 of the 1.8 nema 17 LDO, when I saw that the LDO Voron kit comes with the .8 for x,y. This clarified it up

Great video series! You've convinced me to finally build a voron. Question: I know that ABS+ is the recommended filament for the printed parts. I would like to be able to run nylon, however. Is the Voron capable? Also, any reason I couldn't use parts printed from a Markforged? I have access to one at work and can get the prints at cost.

I commented on the hotend cooling fan for making printer quiet. I hinted water cooling instead of a fan. If you chose water cooling add the driver chips to the loop.

Marlin 2.0 has gantry leveling, would this then make it a viable option?
@machinerin151

7 motors is needed for gantry leveling V2, all on 7 separate drivers. I know you have probably found your answer by now, but this is for future googlers and encounterers from the recommended section. SKR Pro only has 6 motor drivers, not enough to do gantry leveling, but could be enough to do triple leadscrew V1 or other 3D printer. Bigtreetech GTR is pretty powerful and has an expansion board, allowing for 6+5 motors, more than enough for V2, however the functionality and speed are pretty limited, and since you're gonna want a Pi for octoprint anyway - might as well run klipper, it has significantly better code, better functionality out of the box and a bajillion other good things. And if you're running klipper... two regular boards (I suggest SKR Mini E3, best bang for your buck ever) are cheaper and more efficient than a GTR (If Klipper even supports GTR, haven't checked). Or, alternatively - you can run a clone Duet 2 + Duex5 (Duex2 would be sufficient, but it isn't cloned). No need for a pi, but it is slower and with less functionality than Klipper. Such is life.

Hello. How about a connection with springs or shock absorber at the sockets with the belt, to eliminate any traces of shadows or ghosting on the parts.

Hi Nero, This is a great tutorial. I have a question about the board choose. I have a board from my old Ender 5, it names Creality 1.13 board with an Allegro A4988 driver inside. I don't know if I can use this board to build my Voron V2 and save some money. Further infomation, I saw some people use this board couple with raspberry pi to successfully run Kllliper firmware.

Any thoughts on using a RasPi4 over the 3? You mention the 2560+RAMPS setup doesn't do the computing, would it be fair to say using a 32bit re-arm+RAMPS is not necessary?
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 5 жыл бұрын
its pretty new but should be fine, doubt you`ll see any real performance difference though in printing. As for the 32bit re-arm, un necessary as the RPI is doing all the thinking. If you have one already and klipper supports it, wouldnt hurt to use though.

Is there any substantial increase in quality/operation by using the TCM drivers and microstepping? The 8bit ramps units have the processing power needed for microstepping?

For the most part. No. Were still running at 1/16ms. The advantage of tmcs is mostly noise reduction and any of the other features they offer you use. For the record my 2208s I use arnt even connected via uart. I dont use/need any of the extra options they offer. As for power. The rpi3 is doing all the computing. The ramps are slaved to it

Is it possible to use mks base boards with klipper for voron (easier 24v cfg)? Is it possible to build it multi material (which boards)?
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 5 жыл бұрын

Nero1911 , do you think it would be compatible with a pallette 2 with canvas hub? Given that both of them work with octopi, do you think there could be a problem?
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 5 жыл бұрын
@@alonsorealivazquez8335 You would have to look into whether klipper itself supports it, which to my knowledge it does not at this time.

You mentioned stepper motors, but he did not say anything about their rated current. BOM suggests A4988 stepped drivers and 2A stepper drivers, but as far as I know, TMC2208 cannot handle 2A of continuous drive current. Which stepper motors should I choose for TMC's? Will 1,7A have enough torque for Voron 2.1?
@CanuckCreator
@CanuckCreator 5 жыл бұрын
So even though the motors are rated to 2a you will not be feeding them that much. I run my extruder at 1.4a. Xy at 1a and z at 1.2a. Most others have roughly the same values. The bigger motors are mostly for the torque. And also. A 2a motor running at 1a runs more efficient,cooler, and with more torque than say a 1.2a motor at the same power.

From what we have seen so far, the SKR board, both 1.1 and 1.3 has an issue where with most chinese a4988 drivers, it has a limited vref setting of 0.8, this can potentially be an issue, as such most of the dev team do not go with that board yet. Id recommend joining our discord and asking around for more information on this subject
