🇧🇷 Blumenau 🇩🇪 The Most German City in Brazil | Southern Brazil | 【 4K UHD 】

Blumenau is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina, it is the third municipality in population in the state, the 8th in the Southern Region of Brazil, the 78th in Brazil and the only medium-large city in Santa Catarina, constituting one of its main industrial centers, technology and university.
It was founded by the German chemist and pharmacist Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau, who arrived in a boat via the Itajaí-Açu river accompanied by seventeen other compatriot settlers. This landed at the mouth of the Garcia stream on September 2, 1850 and divided the land into lots so that the settlers could build their homes, mostly houses made with the half-timbered technique. The gap between the mouths of the Velha and Garcia streams defined the current city center.
It has a cultural agenda focused on parties based on the daily life and habits of European immigrants, highlighting the German colonization, with Oktoberfest, the second largest beer party in the world, which, every year in October, takes place for 17 days, and the Stammtisch, a traditional meeting of associations, which takes place both on Rua XV de Novembro, in the center of the municipality, and in Vila Itoupava. The Italian core of the population holds the Festitália, in addition to meetings of the Centro de Tradições Gaúchas (CTG) and several other manifestations of European and Brazilian cultures.
Blumenau, with estimated 366.418 of population, is the economic center of the Itajaí valley, with the textile and computer industries standing out - with national and international companies, such as Companhia Hering, the 16th largest in the state of Santa Catarina, and the largest label manufacturer in the world, Haco. It is also noted the regional relevance of the services and trade sector; namely health and education, with the University of Blumenau and four hospitals. Blumenau has one of the highest human development indices in Brazil and extensive vegetation cover due to the presence of the Serra do Itajaí National Park in its territory. However, it has social problems in common with the rest of Brazil, such as the presence of 23,131 inhabitants in favelas, the highest number in Santa Catarina in 2010.

The problem was immigration from within Brazil. People from the northern Brazilian states had a very different culture from that of the South. Yes - Europe, USA, Canada and Australia are on their way to becoming poor and having a lot of ethnic and religious conflict (rise of Islam, spread of poverty, etc).

​@@brunodsilva7 Exato! Em Pomerode os imigrantes vieram da Pomerânia, hoje a maior parte dela está localizada na Polônia e uma pequena parte na Alemanha. Mas os imigrantes tiveram que se adaptar à língua e costumes germânicos muito por imposição do Dr. Blumenau, fundador da cidade que leva seu nome.

It looks very nice. I never visited but I did visit Nova Friburgo, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, settled by Swiss people in the 1830’s, and I still remember how charming it was.

Penso que a ideia de "cidade mais alemã do Brasil" traz muitos equívocos. Blumenau não é uma cidade pequena, a cultura original da colonização alemã já se encontra há tempos integrada com a cultura brasileira, senão diluída. Nem mesmo a língua alemã é falada como antes. A arquitetura da cidade já mostra o ecletismo das constantes reconstruções realizadas nas cidades brasileiras. Como em todo o Brasil, ao longo do tempo, prevalece a miscigenação. Bastar dar uma volta pela cidade para perceber isso. É importante e necessário preservar as origens, mas não em detrimento da dinâmica do presente.

@@gentilewarrior French? No. I don't know of a single city in Brazil that was colonized by France, even though Brazil was invaded by France during the times of colonization. There are several cities in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina that were founded by German immigrants.

Então, eu percebi que Santa Catarina em geral sofre nessa parte. Eu morei em Curitiba e morei em Joinville, e posso dizer que o trânsito de Joinville é muito pior que o de Curitiba, apesar de Curitiba ser 4 vezes maior que Joinville. E quando vamos os números de cidades que sofrem com congestionamentos no Brasil, Florianópolis sempre está entre as que mais sofrem. Acho, na minha humilde opinião, que devido ao repentino enriquecimento de Santa Catarina, não houve tempo hábil de melhorar a infraestrutura, até por má gestão, e então ela não acompanhou o crescimento da frota de veículos. Quando morei em Joinville, que é a maior e mais rica cidade de Santa Catarina, me lembro de sempre notar como as ruas pareciam ser de cidade pequena, mas estavam ali recebendo todo aquele trânsito pesado. Claro, tem algumas poucas avenidas grandes, como a Av. João Colin, a Av. Blumenau e a Beira Rio, mas não são suficientes para a demanda da cidade. E mesmo a João Colin e Blumenau, ainda são muito estreitas para serem os eixos que são dentro da dinâmica do trânsito de Joinville. Em Curitiba existem uma centena de avenidas maiores e mais largas, e eu nem estou falando que Curitiba não tem problemas, tem, mas são menores que os problemas de Joinville, que como disse, é 4 vezes menor que Curitiba, isso não considerando a região metropolitana de Curitiba.
