I have the Vortex Core and the split spacebar is really wonderful. It feels so much nicer than the awful long ones with clacky stabilizers. I use it just as a normal spacebar until I play games, which I then like to switch to a profile where I can map them separately. Very useful.

So first off, I'll just say that I really love this keyboard, and great video! I did want to bring attention to the one down side with the dual space bars that I've found: it's very difficult to find keycaps for them. Just be aware of that.

Nice that they seemed to have fixed the awful rattling of the stabs on the pok3r due to poor plate fit.

This is a weird one then eh, it's decidedly top end of the middle range of boards available, but sits somewhere between the Poker and the race. But you get everything better with the Poker 3 and race 3 buildwise, the cypher is almost like a bigger sizes budget core. Cheapo keycaps kill it at this price point, I could accept cheap caps if there was a metal body. Nice to see they did not abandon HW programming yet :-)

Are keyboards like these any good for typing? I'm trying to see if I can get a smaller keyboard for myself for both gaming and typing reasons. With software-based programming, you can customise the default layer and also move the Fn, Fn1 and Pn key anywhere. I couldn't do this on my Core using the hardware programming - the default layer was locked and you could only move Fn and Pn to predefined keys and could not move Fn1 at all (except swapping positions with Pn). I sold my Core mostly because I couldn't change Fn1 to left space, plus having the programmed layer LED always on used to bug me (ended up putting a sticker over it!). I think I might buy another one now that these issues have been fixed, although I am currently really enjoying my custom DDmicro + box whites + DSA Honeywell.

On the Cypher you can move the Fn and Pn keys. I should have mentioned this in the review. You'll see this in the manual, it's pretty easy to do without software. 1. Fn + L_shift for 5 seconds then select new Fn key location directly 2. Pn + L_shift for 5 seconds then select new Pn key location directly

@rhinofeed You could do this on the Core too, but the Fn1 key could not be moved unless you moved the Pn key to it, in which case they would be swapped, and the default layer was still not programmable. Anyway, just mentioning it because this is the advantage of the software programming but it doesn't look to matter as much with the Cypher.

This should have been Vortexgear's "gateway" model KB in that there are no frills or anything suggesting a seasoned Mech KB collector with several on their shelves. A good price point of roughly 65$ usd would suit the build and target audience (beginners looking to get comfortable with smaller KBs without losing most functionality whilst keeping distracting RGB, feature-rich alternatives at bay.)

Just wanna say I REALLY like the keyboard overlay you did. But to improve on that please have a hard edge not a blurred edge around the keyboard. And I was so excited when you launched rocket league. Was really hoping you'd actually play it for a bit. Rocket League is by far my favorite game and I have played it quite a bit too. And where are you getting your outro music? Its amazing!
