This is a good option for a open emitter pistol RDS. Tho it is not without its competition.

For what it's worth, you are hands down the best optic reviewer on the internet.

The Venom has more features, it runs on a smaller battery but it’s easier to change, and good quality brand name batteries in that size are very inexpensive. Price wise, if you’re in the US Venoms always go on sale for $50-80 off at PSA. What I like about Vortex is if it breaks they’ll replace it, if the model has been updated they’ll replace your broken optic with the newest similar model. I recently experienced this first hand with one of their early model red dots. Since then I haven’t worried about using any of my Vortex optics hard, if they break or die I can send them in for a replacement. If the optic dies after many years of use, even better-Vortex will send me the newer model. I wish I can say the same about my Aimpoint and Eotechs.

I had one forever ago and if you mount the optic on a MOS or M&P Core those locking screws aren’t accessible so to use them you have to “zero” the optic UNMOUNTED lol I sold it and went with a Holosun

Thanks for the parallax shot! That's the main thing I'm looking for in these red dot sight reviews.

With the 407c being around the same pricing $170-$220, the Vortex pistol red dots are obsolete imo.

@@Bender_B._Rodriguez I wouldn't go that far. Their customer service is probably the best I've ever experienced. I bought a used Glock mos with a viper on it. I stripped a screw and was trying to figure out what screws to use so I emailed Vortex and asked. They said not to worry about it asked for my address. They sent me 3 sets of screws, some stickers, a lens cleaning cloth and a "thanks for being a customer" note, no questions asked about anything. Pretty dope imo. Their Viper PST Gen 2 and Razor LPVOs are absolutely fantastic too. I actually like their UH1 Gen 2 holographic as well although it suffers from the same refresh rate as their red dot. Their product line doesn't have a ton of gems in their line up but their customer support is something all companies should strive to be.

Yeah keep giving your money to Holosun keep being R&D for a Chinese military contractor.

@@mistermann7579 what a ridiculous statement. Yeah if I can afford it but China makes an obscene amount of goods for the U.S. Your very smartphone and/or computer you're using is made in China. Seems a little hypocritical if you ask me.

The Vortex Viper is absolutely worthless. I received one that was already mounted on a pistol. It has a feature that was designed to enhanced the Red Dot, but it made it worthless. The locking screws on the back of the optic come into direct contact with your rear pistol iron sight, and thus you must completely remove the sight in order to unlock the optic locking screws. You then mount the optic back on the pistol and adjust your zero for windage and elevation with the locking screws in the unlocked position . Next you then need to take off the optic in order to access the locking the screws so the zero you just set will not drift, but your zero will move slightly when you remount the optic (been there done that). Never mind that everyone else has shake awake technology. Vortex should have retired this optic years ago.

I’ve had one for years. It’s just eh. Hangs out on a 22lr target. Holosun weren’t available at the time otherwise I’d just have bought 407c.

I feel that Vortex is totally obsolete when it comes to the mini-reflex genre. Even their new Defender is 5 years behind most others when it comes to features. I recently needed a dot with the Docter footprint to mount on a Spitfire 5x. I looked at Vortex for about 5 seconds then went with a CT RAD Pro instead. Vortex needs to step it up.

Great video, I would guess the Burris fast fire 3 would fall in this category too for a comparison, but you need to dress a line somewhere 😂

I dunno if it’s the emitters or what, but the 6MOA dot on the Viper looks a lot smaller than the 6MOA dot on my DPP.

I’m shopping for a first pistol RDS in this price range. It seems very hard to make a case for choosing this Vortex over the Holosun 407’s. (Love my Vortex LPVOs btw.)
@CDOES

It is a hard case. The holosun stuff is solid. Tho their warranty work (if needed) isn't as good as Vortex.

Did you get any warping fish eye from the NOVA SLX 1-6? I waited 2+ months and got mine, and seems hard to get a flat image, plus the fiber optic is just a hair uncentered ... anyone else notice these issues?

I believe he did remark on some fisheye from that LPVO, and it was one of the reasons why he concluded he would still probably go with the Vortex PST Gen II despite the PA’s attractive features (especially its weight savings over the PST). But go check his video and see if my memory is slipping.

Hello everyone, i wanted to put a 32MOA ring dot on my shotgun, the shotgun is a beretta a300 ultima patrol, so it needs to have a picatinny rail adapter. What do you advise? I was thinking about a holosun 507c x2 with an adapter, but maybe there is better/cheaper stuff. I specifically like 32moa circle dot because they seem to represent very well the pellet spread.
