I don’t think they mentioned this once, I could have missed it but one of my favorite things about LPVO’s is the etched reticle. Same with my prisms. There is comfort level there knowing that if the illumination dies, I still have my optic.

I built an AR in 6.5 Grendel for Texas feral hogs. During the day they often find wallows and mud holes and will get into thick brush for perceived safety. I bought a SE 1-8x because you often get very close to them in the brush and sometimes they will actually charge you. The 1-8x is fantastic because it is good from a few feet away up to a few hundred yards across the field.

@Chano Leyva a lot of people would disagree and you obviously haven't tried it yourself. It's the way of the future. Give it a try and see for yourself. Ignorant opinions are pretty useless Edit: and btw, when I first put a red dot on a 22 target pistol 13 years ago a lot of people at the range laughed, gave me weird looks, talked crap behind my back I'm sure, thought it was useless, etc... I guess there's a market for pistol red dots though, they seem to be pretty popular now. So... don't knock it until you try it. And yeah, my 1-8 is good glass regardless of the attitude you want to convey about your own stuff vs what you think I have.

I'm 65 and have had the pleasure of seeing the evolution of optics 1st hand. In the 90's I ran a police supply business and worked in law enforcement, retired after working from 81-2006. I also was a tactical officer f0r 20+ years. The advantage of the LPVO at 50-100 is the ability to make the precision shot in a hostage situation. Although I can make a head shot at 50 with a red dot, I would never attempt it with a hostage. With a LPVO at high magnification, I would take the shot if conditions were right and I had to. I shoot thousands of rounds per year and even at my age occasionally shoot the sub 1" group at 200 yards. I been building AR's since the 90's, the rifle barrel's available today are extremely accurate when properly installed. Ammunition is great. For CQB the red dot is king, a magnifier is a viable option for the reasons you've stated. I'm receiving a Vortex OPMOD 1x8, SFP today, I'm excited to put it to the test on a DMR upper I just built with a BA 16" barrel. Great Video.

I remember going bunny busting back in the day with a .22 Bolt gun with a 3-9 x 40 scope. If a bunny broke from a tussock almost under you, it was an extraordinary feat to snap shoot them, and they rarely stopped for you. See through mounts were popular for a while but are very hard to find now. An LPVO should solve most issues. I'm seriously considering getting one if I ever decide to go hunting again. I've found that, for most hunting scenarios, I've been over powered and not really needing such levels of magnification. So, given that realization, I tried a 1-6X scope and really found some advantages. Greater field of view and lower power magnification allowed greater light available to my eye. Also went to a 1-8X scope with lighted reticle for another rifle. It's really all I need. LPVO is the way to go for me. Great video guys.

Step 1) Release a Razor 2-10x36/44 FFP focused on max FOV with solid illum + adjustable parallax + locking exposed turrets (or just elev) + a reticle that is quick at 2x and ~22oz weight @~$1300-1500 Step 2) ??? Step 3) Profit Trijicon had a chance to dominate the MPVO market with the 2-10 credo but imo missed on too many points. The PA GLx is a very solid optic that would benefit greatly from better glass and illum. The NF is approx 150 years old at this point, and SFP. Solid optic, but too far behind the modern competition imo. This market segment is severely underserved. I love LPVOs, but i do feel like secondary dots can serve well enough for most up close, and you regain a LOT of mid-high mag performance when you dont have to work around the 1x. Think we just need to encourage more people to shoot past 100y, doubly so with ARs, and especially with the hopeful proliferation of 6arc. Keep crankin out solid optics. You guys are killing it.

Guys, I have a Razor 1-6 and a Strike Eagle 1-6 and I will never buy another Razor. The Razor is not so much better that it justifies the cost difference. I honestly can’t see any [significant] difference in clarity or quality of image between the two Optics. Furthermore, I highly prefer the BDC reticle in the Strike Eagle over the VMR in the Razor. Justin M mentioned an etched reticle and that is a very big deal for me. I use both my Razor and Strike Eagle most of the time without the illumination. I have astigmatism and the illumination in most rifle style optics, such as LPVOs, blooms too much if set high enough so that it can be seen in well lit conditions. This is a very personal opinion, but any gun I would use an LPVO on, I would not be using to shoot at distances where I would need a 10x Magnification and vice versa. FYI, my Razor had to go back to Vortex right out of the box. The vertical line in the reticle was off canter. The warranty and quality of Vortex’s products are the reasons I am a very loyal fan.

In Europe LPVO:s are very popular in driven hunts. You can use them just like a red dot if they have an illuminated dot. Both eyes open, fast situations. But you still have the option to zoom in if you see something a little further away and of course it's easier to zero. I personally have a 1-5x30mm on my .308 for driven hunts for moose and deer.

@kasettilaukku 2 жыл бұрын
@@newerest1 In driven hunts or in general? I would probably not shoot past 150 meters on a moving moose. The terrain varies a lot but mostly dense forested areas with lots of dips and hills so usually you wouldn't see past that any way. Most hunting situations are fast and the distances are around 50-70m. Moose is a much easier target than a white tail deer for example, since their motion is more predictable.

Listened to your red dot/prism/LPVO podcast yesterday, and listening to this podcast today. Excellent discussion guys. I'm one of those AR-47 weirdos, and I've only even owned red dots for a year now, but as my firearm "career" progresses, I'm seeing the increased need for magnification. For a while, I was considering a 3x prism for sort of a jack-of-all-trades, but the more I listen to your discussions, I'm thinking an LPVO and training on it is the way to go. I'm looking at the Strike Eagle 1-6, as realistically I won't be shooting past 300 yards with 7.62x39 and I'm thinking 6x is plenty of magnification (still have good eyes). Thanks again for the excellent info!

One of my biggest issues with LPVOs is the size; they're not significantly smaller than a regular scope and you lose the objective lens diameter for the upper end. I like the idea of a really compact 3-9x or 3-12x and sticking an rmr on top of it for true 1x. There are a few out there, but they're low-budget scopes like Barska and even that's still pretty big. Is there a geometry issue that sets a minimum for scope length? In my searching I found a Recoil article from last year about the "mpvo" and I'm wary of fads but the concept makes sense to me.

@@whatittooye but 338 is the caliber of the bullet, not the name of the cartridge. Anyway I added the millimeter designation for clarification.

@@user-pq4by2rq9y 338BLK still sounds better in my opinion then 8.6MMBLK, im just sayin not many is gonna understand metric here in the US since its not used at all besides a few cartridges

Is there going to be a MPVO revolution? Something like an amazing 2.5-15 that just blows everything away and people start to debate 1x to 2.5?

@@joebob4609 I have a family friend who used to hunt mule deer in Eastern Montana with his bone stock Chinese SKS and got his deer every year until he passed away a few years ago. 7.62x39 is an excellent hunting round for deer up to 300-400 yards if you're a good shot.

The strike eagle is so fuckin annoying because it’s the 1-8 I want but that stupid ass BDC reticle kills it. the pst genii is only offered in a 1-6 but it has the basic VMR-2 reticle I want.

Great opening clip! LPVOs are not red dots, and no amount of training will get them there. BUT if you’re going predator hunting and might jump a hog on the walk in LPVOs are fantastic.

First, no one says “tactical drills.” You probably lie to strangers about how you used to be a sniper too. Second, even the best LPVOs struggle with eye relief and eye box compared to RDS. In fact, when the loop hole is low enough to the ground you can’t get a sight picture at all. For your convenience I’ve attached some notes from our instructor guide. Ways RDS+Magnifier is better… -Passive aiming under NODs is possible -Performs much better in rain, dust, and mud -Much more durable -Lighter than comparable LPVO -Much faster at close-far-close shooting -Parallax free at 0 power -Eye relief is infinite -Eye box is much larger If the shooting is dynamic, athletic, and inside 200m RDS+Magnifier is still a significantly better option. As they discuss in this podcast, LPVOs really start to dominate when the shooting priority lies outside 300m.

If you read this and you are not saved,I care about you enough to tell you that you have sinned against a Holy God and because of that you are under condemnation because you can’t keep His perfect law or be righteous on your own and because of you can’t keep His law or be righteous on your own you are stuck in your sin, and you will endure God’s wrath for your crimes against Him only if you do not come to know and believe in His son Jesus Christ who died on the cross so the door to have your sins forgiven could be opened and you receive salvation as a free gift, if you reject Him you will suffer for all eternity, turn from your sinful ways and live a life that is appealing to the Lord and brings Him Glory you don’t have all the time in the world, tomorrow is not guaranteed, sin doesn’t fill the void in your heart or give you the satisfaction you want, it only digs your hole deeper, and increases the things your trying to escape
