Another reason why the Loftwings could've evolved to be the Oocca might be because after the humans went to the surface to establish Hyrule, the Loftwings who went back to Skyloft had no more use for their big size and wing span. They would have to consume too much food to sustain their size, and without anyone to feed them, they had to find food on their own. They probably had no reason to travel long distances or fly competitively anymore, so they could've stayed on the ground most of the time and the large wings might've become an inconvenience. There's alot of time in between SS and TP, so the evolution is definitely plausible. Great video.

Just a quick trivia: Oocca is the localized name of the tribe living in the City in the Sky (-Skytown, Elysia-). In the original Japanese text, the beings who live there are called "tenkuujin", or "sky people". The way the game got localized made it look like the Oocca have their own nomination like the Zora or Goron, while they seem to have taken the same title as the people who used to live there before them instead, on the original Japanese version. That's why TP tells us the Oocca built the Temples or created the Hylians: because they're not talking about those little things that appear in your nightmares, they're talking about the "people who lived in the sky". The creatures we find living in the sky are of another race! Localization issues!

For the city to be Skyloft, looking the way it did, would mean that Hylians stayed there for quite some time still before leaving it. Considering that Skyward Sword shows only Link and Zelda staying on the surface, it is plausible that some came to the surface while the others remained for some time.

The ones that stayed became the Wind Tribe from Minish Cap and when they ultimately left, the Loftwings returned to the uninhabited city and became the Oocoo. (At least that’s how I see it)

I disagree. You are forgetting about _The Minish Cap_. In TMC, we meet the Wind Tribe. They are the ones who built the City in the Sky. The Wind Tribe were originally just regular Hylians, but after a while, they desired to return to the Sky. But the Loftwings had disappeared from Hyrule (more on this later), so they built a tower to the Sky. But they were dissatisfied with this, so they built the City in the Sky-a mechanical representation of Skyloft. The Dominion Rod was the original means to control the City, allowing the Wind Tribe to return to the Surface. But when Vaati came to power, he ejected the Wind Tribe and set up camp in their City. The Wind Tribe relocated to their former home, the tower to the Sky. After Vaati was defeated, the City flew abandoned. After the events of _Four Swords_ (and _Four Swords Adventures_, but that is inconsequential for the purposes of this theory), the Wind Tribe decided it was time to return to their home. They had no way of reaching it anymore, so they resorted to magic to transform themselves into birds. This was partially successful; the Wind Tribe, not the Loftwings, became the Oocca. As for what happened to the Loftwings, they were "created" by Hylia to aid the Skyloftians. After fulfilling their role, they returned to their original, diminished size, and can be seen fluttering around the Sky Tower in TMC. As for the rest of your theory regarding Rauru, I think you may be on to something. Perhaps the magic the Wind Tribe used to become Oocca is the same magic that Gaepora used to become an owl, except that they screwed something up in the process!

Cillendor Edenion I had my own thoughts on how The Minish Cap fit in. The Wind Ruins, where the Wind Tribe ascended to the heavens, is located in Castor Wilds, a big low-lying area filling in with mud. Remember the big hole left in the Sealed Grounds where the Island of the Goddess ascended? Castor Wilds is probably the hole left behind by the rest of Skyloft, and the Wind Tribe who ascended are probably the ancestors of the Skyloft dwellers.The present-day Wind Tribe in The Minish Cap are likely those who decided to remain in Skyloft rather than return to the Surface. However, we can see that they are beginning to relocate to the Surface in the game with the guy in Hyrule Town talking about calling his family over.

+James Stearns That hole where the Sealed Grounds were located was covered by the Statue of the Goddess Isle that fell to the surface at the end of SS. However, that was a good theory. I have heard a theory that the Goddess Statue Isle and the Temple at the top of the Sealed Grounds eventually became the original location of Hyrule Castle and Temple of Time, but not sure how true that is.

We have to remember there was an entire era after Skyward Sword that had no games in that timeline placement. Surely the city of the sky in TP was built around this time, the oocca are apparently a race that existed in the sky and had the city left over to them when the humans left. The way I understand it from the Japanese version is the Oocca term means "sky people" and in fact these birds just took on the same name as the sky people disappeared.

Have you ever thought of doing anything from Link's Awakening? It seems like there might be some connections in future games, I've seen some theories that other characters/whales are the Windfish but I don't know enough about those games. There's also Marin and Tarin and Malin and Talin and all the cameos in the game. I hope you get around to the NES games and LttP someday too. I'd like to see something about how the games were originally supposed to be set in the future and time travel to the past, like the triforce was a microchip originally apparently? I'm looking forward to anything from Majora's Mask as well! There's so much culture and subplot and characters and lore that would be nice to here explained. I love your videos keep it up!

There is one more possible place where Skyloft is shown in game, I can't remember Minish Cap's name for it but it was what appeared to be a landmass in the clouds, or made of solid clouds hard to tell on a GBA really, and it held the temple where you obtained the wind element to complete the Four Sword, it's plausible since on the timeline MC occurs almost immediately after the era of chaos post Skyward Sword

Anyway, I was wondering if you can should some light on a question I have been wondering since I played Skyward Sword. In Twilight Princess, it claims the Master Sword was crafted by the wisdom of the sages. However, in Skyward Sword, we clearly see Link himself tempering the Goddess Sword with the three sacred flames. Can you explain this discrepancy? Thank you so much if you see this.

Bschwenk13 Ah yes, that :p. A lot of things said in Twilight Princess have been overwritten by Skyward Sword (like the role of the Oocca!), among them also the origins of the Master Sword. So basically, this means you'll have to ignore the part about the sages when it comes to the master sword, as they are no longer the ones that made it.

Sasuke Uchiha Highly, highly unlikely. Rauru would know about Ganondorf's evil if he had been reigning king at the time, and he would definitely know about Zelda and her role as the mortal Goddess. The King from OoT is pretty clueless when it comes to Ganondorf, and didn't even believe Zelda when she told him of her prophetic dreams. Also, as far as I know, the sages in OoT didn't die in order to become sages. As seen in Wind Waker, the sages need to be alive in order to actually use their power.

Defiitly one of my favorite and most reasonable fan theories. Personally I'd say the oocca are either the evolved Loftwings, or Hylians that decided to stay in skyloft, and perhaps were given "evultionary help" like the Ruto in Windwaker. to allow them to more easily make use of living in the sky. (and prevent them from falling) Or even both.

What if the dragon boss (forgot how to spell his name) is an oocca that was tainted by the mirror shard? It could have been fully, 100% corrupted by the time TP Link came to retrieve the shard, so much that nothing of the original oocca was left. Zant could have broken the mirror soon after Midna helped Link return to the light world. Considering he knew she had a peice of the fused shadow already, he knew she'd be collecting the others, so he thought one step ahead and broke the mirror. Yeta got sick from her peice and the yetis locked it away, she spent like a minute less than that looking into it when she turned into Blizzeta. That could have happened the a random oocca but it was too late for it, yet Blizzeta was defeated straight after being corrupt, so she still had some forms of her former self to turn back into.

Another thought is that you use a cannon for the surface to get to the sky in twilight princess. Groose's cannon was already set up and pretty powerful, perhaps it was modified through the ages to be transportation, with the aid of the clawshot (silent realm gift), for a hero to get back to the sky??

Nintendo used to prioritize gameplay over story, but with the last few releases they're actively figuring out where the games fall in the timeline and how all games can fit together. That is definitely an after thought, as a lot of things that make no sense are being retconned. Nintendo basically just realized how much fans care about a general storyline, and is acting accordingly. In terms of game design, they often work with a basic story and build the character, location or dungeon around that.

I have a different theory about the Oocca. I think they are the Skyloftians who chose not to return to the surface. From their point of view, even with Demise gone, the surface would be a terrifying place, full of animals, monsters, and situations that no one in their living memory (besides Link) had ever seen. So they stayed on Skyloft, but with Hylia returned to the surface with the Hero, they no longer have her exclusive protection and thus evolve into a more bird-like form

Good theory, but the City in the Sky looks more like Vaati's palace to me. I've always assumed Skyloft itself came down like the Statue of the Goddess did. If you match up the SS map with MC's so the mountains are north and the forest is to the east, the Wind Ruins are right about where Skyloft would be on the ground, likely destroyed in the Era of Chaos.

I always theorized that Rauru was the actual King of Hyrule (Zeldas father) that was probably killed by Ganondorf. This is why he watches over you until you're an adult because in life he did not want to listen to Zeldas prophecies. He most likely regretted this and became the owl to watch over her and you. All the sages in OoT are most likely dead. They die fulfilling their duties and become sages. Some deaths are more obvious than others but its likely.

I think its been proved that the Sages are not dead, or at least not all of them because in BOTW/TOTK Sidon and Mipha are said to be direct descendants of Ruto the Sage of Water
