VOSTROYAN FIRSTBORN - REGIMENTS OF DISTINCTION Astra Militarum / Imperial Guard Regiment that has been in existence since just after the Horus Heresy, they are some of the most elite fighting forces in the Imperium. Better equipped, with higher elan, training and experience than near any other regiment in the Imperium of Mankind. The Firstborn of each family are sent to war for an ancient debt of honour. There is no story in this video, as it is entirely a history, so a story unto itself. The tanker battle versus the Tau will be concluded hopefully next week, as I found I could not fit it in appropriately without utterly disrupting the feel and flow of this one. According to the Caiphus Cain books (the best 40k fiction IMO) the Valhallans also reinforce their Regiments with fresh recruits, and keep traditions and honours down the years, although they will also merge Regiments if they suffer more than 50% casualties.

As someone who has a Vostroyan army i can tell you that its a MASSIVE project and you really, and i do mean really have to be sure it's worth it before you start. The models are old, metal, hard to find and expensive. If that doesn't kill it for you the next hurdle is that Vostroyans are very detailed models with lots of trim and ornamental bits and therefore take a long time to paint. It's not like cadians where you can knock out a squad in a few days. Each model is a commitment. As im sure you can imagine this is a big problem for an army known for mass lines of infantry. If you can get passed all that then i can tell you that a Vostroyans Army is truly something special and will bring a smile to any opponents face when you bring them out. Most people have never seen a vostroyan army in real life and you have them all to yourself at the local gaming club. I would say it's worth it but i was ready to quit many times before i was done and i will never do it agian.
