Any strike would probably be targeted in such a way as to affect the soft spots of the company. PDC's are always moving. Even if inventory is high, it doesn't mean that the PDC's don't need to ship parts to dealers. There are other examples of particularly soft spots. It isn't just assembly plants.

Have you been in any of our plants Fain??? Every plant I have worked at has so many holes im the roof every time it rains we have to work through creeks of water. How is it safe to drive forklifts and tuggers through pools of water to do our jobs while they make billions and not put back anything into our plants for us. Bathrooms down left and right. Those are strikeable issues. File grievances on these things with your steward/committeeperson. Get petitions going in your plant about health and safety issues, demanding action. Organize your fellow workers to action on these things. The union is powerful because WE make it powerful. Shawn is one person. He cannot personally do everything alone. This is a health and safety issue, and in any of the big three contracts are strikeable. Organize your fellow workers to action on pressuring management to fix these issues. Shawn and International staff cannot know every single issue. YOU as the shop floor worker must help to address these issues. If your steward/committeeperson/rep won't, then you escalate to the next level above them, over at the hall. If THEY won't, you take it to the region, with documentation. Get more voices involved. Your fellow workers are your fellow members. Band together and demand action.

Vote "yes". There are ways of striking that ignore the inventory issues that the company caused themselves. The union can apply pressure and not harm assembly workers. Contract enforcement strikes are important to do, to show the company that we mean business.

Tavares is incompetent, he isn't trying to eliminate factories or employees - he is just incompetent. Opening another plant in the face of record inventories would be stupid, one step above incompetent. Stallantis is likely to go bankrupt and the union may be hastening the demise with a strike. Or maybe the strike will add a few months since they will have lower labor costs. In any event I can't see stallantis surviving. I learned many years ago to not invest in the auto industry.

This "fight" the one shown to the public is rarely the real issues behind the scenes. I presume you are not involved in the auto industry, neither your funds or labor, I am. How? GM and Ford are fine. This is a management issue, not a union issue. Stop with the tired arguments of "the union is ruining the company." The company is ruining the company, not the company's workers. We want the company to be successful and let us build good vehicles that you as customers want to buy. We can't do that if they won't let us.
