Our video about Roberto Duran: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ2akKeLjceljNU And Thomas Hearns: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6iwpJiZaNyprLs In the 80s, a remarkable rivalry unfolded in the world of boxing when four outstanding champions in adjacent weight classes competed to determine the best, engaging in nine bouts among themselves. This period is now referred to as the era of the "Four Kings."

Sugar Ray Leonard's speed and accuracy were legendary, but his footwork and ability to string together long, varied combinations were a thing of beauty. Suger Ray Leonard is still one of my all-time favorites. He never ran from any of the great fighters of his era. He fought the best of his time and won them all. I didn't want to see him fight those monsters. People like Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler, and the Panamanian Devil, in my mind growing up, were true monsters, and I thought Sugar Ray should never have anything to do with them. But he never backed down from any of them. That was truly amazing for me, to watch him go into the ring and not only survived but also flourished and became the winner.

Ray had a slightly better blend of speed and accuracy with deceptively great power, but not quite Roy’s level of power. You must be young. Duran was a lightweight most of his career. He fought him in his prime. Hagler was a middleweight. Which Floyd never fought. And never was out of his prime

@bencasey624 That was never practical because Floyd never fought as high as Middleweight and most importantly Hagler and Floyd fought in different eras, lol. Also by his own admission, Sugar Ray said that he only took the Hagler fight, because he could see that Hagler wasn't the same fighter. Especially after his war with Magabi, which was a great fight.

The cherry on top of his incredible career, is that he SUCCESSFULLY managed his money to make EVEN more money and develop a career AFTER BOXING…. Very impressive Sugar!!!

Ray was a warrior early in his career all the way up to the first fight with Tommy Hearns when he suffered a detached retina. To me he never fought the same after that , he fought more cautious .

My past dad sometimes talked about "Sugar" Ray Leonard as one of the greatest boxers. I was born in 1978. Now I know why he said that. :) And we are Finnish btw.

Sugar Ray Leonard was my first favorite boxer, and is now my all-time favorite. I followed him since I was an 11 yr old kid watching the Montreal Olympics 1976. Sugar Ray Leonard, Legend.
