It's truly great! I think it really competes with a lot of the lower wattage tube amps on the market right now. If you can find one used, it's almost hard to pass up.

@@Lucas_Maximiliano once again Vox have put the tubes in front of the speaker magnet, which may restrict the type or brand of speaker you can fit inside ...also this has no reverb

I owned an AC4HW1 and sold it. It was great for the studio, but I couldn't get it clean enough or dirty enough. I recently acquired an AC15HW1, and you're right - the cab is oversized, and the amp is loud. But with jumpered channels, I can get jazz cleans and a bristling, low-gain tone, depending on whether I open the power amplifier or the preamplifier.

I’ve had a ac4hw since the launch, great little amp and plenty loud enough for home and small coffee bar use. Only recommendation I have is to give the greenback plenty of time and patience to break in, and I did put a new set of matched Harma tubes in to cure the top end fizz, and tighten the bass a bit. Sounds great with a Klone mostly set clean for extra oomph!

Man I love my ac15 that I’ve had for like 15 years but about 4-5 years ago I splurged when I saw one of these hand wired ones on craigslist nearby. It’s awesome. It just sounds SO good. The 15 has some more features but ive also really fallen in love w the ac4.

Thhat is a great tone, that 50s Strat and the Vox were made for each other, I can hear thhat woody clarity from the "Handwired" circuit. Very similar to a princeton but warmer. I wonder if they make an AC-4 with a Valve Rectifier? I would be contentissimo with that set-up.

@@erickdiaz6152 Soundwise, the pathfinder has more low end believe it or not. Turning up the gain and the volume, the Ac4 is better. Although I think the pathfinder takes pedals much better.

Not to the point of it being distracting and noticeable to be honest. It hums the same way any tube amp would.

They do hum and I personally found it very distracting. I really loved how the amp sounded and responded to the guitar volume, it’s a very inspiring sound and I desperately wanted to keep it, but sadly the hum was too irritating in the end. Interestingly I always found Vox amps to suffer from hiss, but not so much with this particular model. I have a SLO30 and a ToneKing Royalist these days and both are silent as the grave, no hum, no hiss, so I don’t buy into the hum being a ‘feature’ of valve amps or part of the ‘vintage mojo’. Just an opinion.

Yes the PCB board in non hand wired amps is mass produced. Hand wired amps also have the benefit of being easier to work on.

@@bepitan cheaper components sound cheaper is my best guess. Although I've read that a master amp builder(such as Ken Fisher for instance) will know how to manipulate the individual ratings of compentants to make the amp react differently. While the standard high production manufacturing model will use varying tolerances of components. This all could effect the ability of fragile harmonics to survive in the vaccum tube.

I’ve wanted a “Vox” sound at a reasonable volume and price. I’ve played a lot of Vox amps, I think Vox has done a good job of keeping the price down on like an AC10, but it seems to have a negative effect on tone. Cheap tubes, components, and sometimes speaker. My Vox has an inspired by Celestion speaker. Very dull sounding compared to this amp.
