Percy's smoke was never an active spell but the effect of Orthax's influence so I don't think it was an active minor illusion mind you it could be. talisan was never clear with his actions above board early game

Thank you for the comment. So I did go into more detail about this in another video but basically at this point this is just Orthax's natural smoke but later on in the series Percy takes the magic initiative feat and chooses Hex, and Minor Illusion. It been awhile since I've seen it but in one of the behind the scenes discussions he talks about this decision so he could narratively represent the darkness inside him still. Percy never tells the table his activating Minor Illusion for those roleplaying moments he just does it. A good rule of thumb is if Matt is describing the smoke its Orthax but if Taliesin is describing the smoke its Percy. The best example of this is when Percy intimidates Cravenedge later on in the series after Orthax has already left his body. You are correct at this point in the animation its just Orthax's influence I was just referencing what it will be in the future of the series and went on to explain this in another video. My first guess was originally a type of thranthrope but then I learned that there is a video where Sam and Travis created the character with fans on a stream. The character was confirmed to be a changeling. I hope this information helps and thanks for the comment.

I thought something similar at first but there is a stream where Travis, Sam, and Fan feedback made this character and they are a Changeling. Thank you for the comment I hope this info helps.

Yes the character is a changeling. It was one of the Kickstarter goals to give the critter fans of critical role a chance to make a character for the show and that was the audiences pick a non-binary changeling tavern keeper

The bulk up ability that Pumat had was actually a spell call Tenser's Transformation. It's 6th level, so I doubt some random barkeep would be able to cast it

Percy having a Patron and being a Warlock would make all the otherwise bad combat rolling / misfiring with his pistol suddenly make a lot more sense. This wouldn't happen if Percy was a Gunslinger proper.

@@wolfwarrior1176 Percy is a fighter with the gunslinger subclass. Matt Mercer homebrewed the subclass with him and the in-game lore to explain guns was that he was tinkering and experimenting.

Because otherwise it would be meta-gaming for them to know it was a lightning dragon or that there is such a thing. they do not know anything about dragons, which is why they went to see the magic merchant for a weapon or information. Basically the characters they play in the game, which is where this adventure comes from, knew nothing about dragons so did not know they would be immune. For example: In the real world a wire conducts electricity all day long. But give it too much electricity and it heats up and melts.

Wasn't "Devour the weak" a strength save? Also, when Pike was hit by Delilahs spell, i would argue you could add a "Constitution/concentration save fail" from Pike since Grog lost the "Holy weapon" effect on his axe. Otherwise i agree with your interpretations, well done 👍

Just rechecked and devour the weak is a Constitution Save but I'm not sure on the Delilah spell you could be right on that one. Thanks for the questions and the support I really appreciate it.

Great point this is most likely the animators using there artistic license to represent both spells without considering there interaction but it could also be different spells/abilities being used. Thank you for the solid insight into this moment. I find it very helpful with season 2 coming out in a few days and this will be something to consider when I try to figure out even more spells/abilities in the future.

@@sadknight2826 Could it have also been a counter spell? It also takes a reaction and can fully negate the effects of a conjure barrage spell as both are at base 3rd level.

@@56thvraksgrenadierregiment72 Good point. It gets tricky because were trying to figure out someone's artistic expression of something verbally described. To the best of my ability I believe its the shield spell because shields deflect arrows and we can see both arrows bounce off the spell like a shield but if the second arrow is created by the spell conjure barrage then I would assume that if its counter spelled the second arrow would fizzle away. But to be fair the spell conjure barrage says it disappears after it hits which we don't see but I would assume that happens off screen. Sadly I'll never be one hundred percent sure unless Critical Role makes a list of every spell used in the series but I try my best to match what I'm seeing visually happen to the descriptions of the spells which is not a prefect method and changes depending on the caster. For example most of Keyleth's spells use vines in their express and Scanlan's spells are mostly shaped like purple hands lol. Thank you so much for the question its very possible that its a counter spell or it could even be a spell from pathfinder because Delilah was still in development before they completely switched over to 5e and I'm not very familiar with pathfinder's spell list.

Thanks for the question. So their is a stream were Travis and Sam work with the fans to make this character which is a changeling. In the scene the person is changing into a minotaur which falls into the shapechanger ability which I called change appearance in the video which is my bad. I was referencing both really some is dnd mechanics like starting in a tavern tropes and saving throws, iconic moments are moments that are very close to the stream game so much so you can put some of them side by side as comparisons. There are also references to things surrounding the ttrpg community like Pathfinder and Warhammer references and even references to other work the cast has worked in like the Game of Thrones burned face of the hound shown in later episodes. "Detect Magic" is actually being used wrong. It's more like a Sam Fisher thermal-goggles thing. Anything magical within a 30 foot cone glows, per RAW.

I cant understand why this happening to me but i cant withstand watching this series, it has basically everything i enjoy (fantasy setting, cool characters designe, system, etc) but when i try seeing it just- dont sit right with me, it looks so interesting but i cant even pass the first episode (Maybe it could be related to the characters personality or actions i dunno) guess i shall only watch from the sidelines then

Thank you for the great question. In Campaign 1 many of them were still really new to the game including Laura who's character is Vex'ahlia. In Campaign 2 & 3 they got the hang of the game a bit more and have a blink dog, crimson weasel, undead rat fiend, and a fire elemental monkey.

@@WolfMoon351 My bad this animated series is based on a DnD game streamed on twitch and the reason they have a simple bear is because at the time they were new to the game this is just campaign 1. Hopefully in the future they will animate the other 2 campaigns which have much more exotic animal pets like a blink dog and fire monkey. There characters choices are also less standard fantasy in the other seasons as well. Sorry for the confusions hopefully I cleared up what I was trying to say.
