Keyleth's whole S3 vibe has just been so triggering to me, and that's why it's such a valuable lesson- it's not enough to simply "know" or "feel" something, but to move forward with conviction in that awareness, and make choices accordingly is a very real struggle.

Keyleth’s come a long way since Season 1. She found love that keeps her tethered. She found her own path to becoming a leader. She’s survived undeath, passed through fire, braved the fey realm, went to hell and back, and conquered her nemesis. And she did so by utilizing all she’s learned across three seasons to outlast and outwit her, baiting her into incinerating her own corpse, thus leaving the diseased ashes open to being “reclaimed” by the earth and free to be transferred back into her new body. In other words, she _deceived the Deceiver,_ beating Raishan at her own game and reducing her to being the DECEASED Deceiver.

Couldn't agree more. I love that they gave the HDYWTDT to Keyleth. It was an epic battle with such a deadly, cunning creature. Although the Feeblemind from the OG campaign was plenty epic too.

In my view, even if Keyleth was right about Raishan, the cold hard reality Vox Machina had was that there was no alternative. Without Raishan they would not have been able to find The Plate, nor learn about Thordak’s plan. The mistake they made with Raishan was not that they trusted her (they didn’t), but that they did not plan around Raishan inevitably stabbing them in the back.

For the people commenting on the focus on Keyleth being right: The show is commenting on the fact about how much people hated on and doubted Keyleth in the og streams. It has nothing to do with the outcome of the fights or grudges that were between the charactee- but with the facts that her words, actions or opinions weren't seen as valuable (by the team or the audience) at the time. If you think the focus is weird or undeserved- maybe think about it from her point of view. She had put her whole life (her aramente, helping her people) on stop for the team. But kept being treated as a spare piece. And the fact is, it had happened before, during season 2 when the fire ashari were attacked. They didn't listen, until it was almost too late. The plot point is for Keyleth- she has good insticts, lots of potential and a solid leadership skills. She just needed to believe in that herself. And her team needed to realise that she needed them to be there for her and to support for that.
@AdamEspersona
@AdamEspersona Ай бұрын
I think you nailed it right there. She even said so: she had to trust _herself_ first. And she could upon realizing how much she needed the others. Especially the person she loves most. They are what keep her grounded and tethered. They all learned a valuable lesson: to trust each other and to LISTEN.

Nope, this is completely new and dosent even line up with what we know about the setting. In the source material the Ashari had nothing to do with Raishan personally, and "chromatic" dragons have been enemies of humanity since almost as far back as the founding of the world. "Claim nature for themselves" has to be an outright lie, the 4 Ashari tribes stay close to the 4 elemental rifts to guard them, theyre not out taking ownership of forests or whatever.

I didn't like this all much, because there wasn't really much to do about Raishan. They would've never worked with her if they had a choice, but getting vague bad guy sense from someone they didn't trust to begin with didn't make a tangible difference on what the group could or could not do. The only option they had was to stab Raishan in the back right after killing Thordak but that would've just seemed like them being even blow her level.

We don't find out until the last episode of season 3 that Keyleth's people were responsible for infecting Raishan with a fatal disease. I think most people would agree that purposely infecting somebody with cancer, AIDS or Ebola is morally wrong- even if they are your enemy. I was like "so was that what this was all about". I think Raishan was justified in hating Keyleth and the Ashari.
@Igarappappa
@Igarappappa Ай бұрын
Yeah, but considering Raishan was already VERY evil by that point (in fact her disease was basically a dying curse from the druids she murdered) I'm not all that sympathetic. Especially since she pretty much admitted the first thing she planned to do after being cured was commit wanton genocide.

@GamerJosh2611
@GamerJosh2611 Ай бұрын
@@itsjustvin7630 She gave information that was VITAL to Thordak's defeat. Pike's struggle with using the plate wasn't Raishan's fault, and in the first place, she likely wasn't considering them not being able to use it because she GENUINELY wanted Thordak dead, even if only for her own purposes. You can't say that Raishan barely helped, because as proven by their first attempt on Thordak's life, *they could not beat him without the Dawnmartyr.* Like it or not, if they ignored Raishan and refused to listen to her from the get-go, they would've failed to defeat Thordak and everyone would have died. That much is an undisputed fact. Yes, maybe they should've been more ready for Raishan's betrayal, but Keyleth's whole bit that she goes through here is frankly just willfully ignorant and blatantly ignoring the bigger picture. "I should have spoken up, been more confident, stop everyone from listening to Raishan" despite the fact that if she had done ANY of those things, they would all be dead. Sure, her grudge was personal, she wanted to avenge her people who were killed as a result of Raishan's actions. But willfully ignoring that it was necessary to save those who were still alive makes it a really shitty springboard for character growth of the "I need to believe in myself more" variety... especially since from here it basically became the Keyleth show as she mostly just solo'd Raishan herself anyway.

Keyleth made me so mad this season😂 she spends the whole time telling vm that raishan is evil but never providing any alternative solutions for dealing with Thordak. And there are multiple times when members in VM are like "I don't trust raishan either, but do you have any better ideas?" And she's stumped. But then she just runs off pouting and it is just so childish! She just has this attitude the whole season that really made it difficult to root for her at the end when she got her earth powers and stuff, it felt really anticlimactic for me, personally. Like keyleth was one of my favorites in the actual campaign her powers and story were super cool but in the animation, specifically this season she was fine in the other seasons, she is super whiny and it kills any badassary she had. Druids are my favorite class too it just makes me so sad!
