Quick Note. I feel like Umbrasyl was using Greater Invisibility, since it wasn't broken when he attacked. It only dropped when he wanted it to, or when he took damage (losing concentration on the spell).

NGL I kinda love Spiritual Weapon being an actual weapon that you can wield. It basically makes it a Holy equivalent to Shadow Blade

Me too. I wish I had thought of this with my goblin cleric. It would have been hilarious to have had him use it as a way to wield an oversized weapon.

The Vestiges like his armor actually "level up". If the player achieves something the DM deems significant enough- be that a character development moment, overcoming a notable challenge, accomplishing some particularly badass thing with them or advancing a story thread that is significant to them etc, it will unlock additional capabilities. In this case it was actually Vax multiclassing into a paladin of the Matron of Raven's and pledging himself to her.. while also bursting out of the side of the dragon just like in the show.

Quick note: First use of spiritual weapon is probably closer to holy weapon instead. Spiritual weapon creates something akin to bigby's hand whereas holy weapon enchants a weapon with (ALOT of) holy damage.

You need to be touching a weapon to use holy weapons, Pike is not touching anything when she uses the spell.

@garethrobertson5502 You're summoning a "spectral" weapon. It's incorporreal. You can't wield it. Once again I reiterate, holy weapon is definitely closer, even if pike wasn't holding a weapon. Spiritual weapon simply does not work in any way like the way Pike used it.

@@JohnQDarksoul Yet holy weapon doesn't work at all the way your saying. Spiritual weapon is certainly the spell being used. Again Matt allowed it's use as a holdable weapon in session, also during campaign one Matt would also forget it was force damage and viewed it as a radiant weapon. This to me is use over what's written she's literally summoning a radiant mace made of light. It's spiritual weapon basically in melee form it's not turning an already created weapon into a weapon thats enhanced with radiance. Spiritual weapon is certainly closer. Given the use of bigbys hand in critical role it's obvious that this is spiritual weapon

I wonder if they're merging Vex's Ranger spells with Fenthras. It would make sense. It's my problem with Rangers. They built her up to just be this Katniss badass with a bow and no magic, all the the sudden, she'd get magic?

I read somewhere that Vax's cloak is also replacing his boots of quickness from the stream. I honestly love that they are finding ways to justify game mechanics like that. Cause yeah, i love rangers but they are one of the only classes that just have no background reason to cast spells. So from a story flavor perspective having it be the bow is a nice touch. I had the idea for one of my chargers to justify the ranger magic by saying that they come from a family of sorcerers but because they didn't know that and trained in bows instead that's how their magic is focused instead of being able to be purely casted.

so the fire arrows ability is not something vex nor fenthras can do more specifically the bow string vex uses is a magic item called the blazing bow string im not sure on the lightning arrows though but i know rangers get an ability that traps their target in bramble vine when you hit i just dont remember the name of the ability and before anyone says it i know its not hail of thorns as that ability basically turns your arrow into frag grenade

Thanks for the information in previous episodes I did call out the blazing bowstring but after the original bow broke, fenthras has been edited to have the fire arrow feature added in which even Matt made mention of in the Watch party obviously in the original show she just added the bowstring to fenthras but they've been changing a lot about the vestiges for the animation like how the deathwalkers ward has vax's boots of haste ability built in now. The lightning arrow is a feature of fenthras and so is the bramble shot which is very similar to the ability you are describing. Thanks for the comment your right there are alot of similar abilities in the ranger tool kit.

Hi, idk if you are gonna see my comment or not but I am new to this universe(to say so) and for now I only watched the show but I would like to get more into this world but idk of where to start, some people say something about a game(not sure) and others about movie but idk of where to start

If you what to get into the world based on this animation you should watch Critical Role they are the creators of this series which is based on their streamed campaigns which can be found on both their KZbin and Twitch channels. This animation is based on Campaign 1 Vox Machina if you want to start at the beginning. If you are interested in the game that the voice actors are playing that is Dungeons & Dragons or DnD for short. I hope this information was helpful.

There's no spell specifically named "Cloaking Spell" in the dnd spell list, genius.

Oh I know it's just a cloaking spell narratively created by the DM for the story. Gilmore even names it genetically so in the show but if I left it out you would be surprised how many people would have left comments calling out how I forgot about it. It is one of those things where I lose either way so I put it in and put the name Gilmore used to not create anymore issues than necessary lol. Thank you for the comment you're completely right there is no such spell it just a DM story telling element.
