They don't only mimic our sounds, they can understand human language too if you take the time to teach them(nor sure if all species can, but some). A friend of mine is a professional animal trainer and trained birds to use in shows for some time. Afterwards she kept a few of her favorite birds around. 1 of them act like a 2-4 year old kid. He can eat nicely from a plate, another of her birds same species made a mess. When he was hurt and had to go to the vet, afterwards he was sick and didn't want to eat. She told him that if he didn't eat she had to take him to the man in the white coat again(the vet), he then went over the the food bowl, ducked his head in, pretended to eat and kept an eye on her to see if she bought it. You could also ask him yes or no questions wich he would answer with moving his head. And he always answered correctly. You could ask him follow up questions too like why and he would again answer correctly. He would rat out anyone if they did something the owner didn't like. If she had him in the house she could hold him over a bucket and tell him to go and he did. He spend a lot of time as a house pet was around her a LOT in his younger years though, so don't expect to achieve this if you spend 30 min a day with your parrot.

Just want to say that if you’re ever considering buying a parrot (that includes budgies and cockatiels) as a pet PLEASE do your research (it’s like having toddlers if you do it right) and consider ADOPTION! Exactly. We got 4 words from the monkey and only one from a bird. Sheesh. The vid goes on and on about how great parrots are at speaking, and we didn't hear any parrots speaking. It's as bad as the Monty Python parrot, i.e. dead. Even the audio of the bird "singing more notes than there are on a piano in 1/10 oif a second" was unconvincing. You need to show us the wave form and the frequencies in it if you are going to claim things like that.

@purpleparrot43333 жыл бұрын
Your wish is premature. Smaller birds live 20 years. Larger parrots can live to 150. That causes a problem. What to do with older birds when caregivers aren't around. Birds bond. So, when abandoned, they Grieve. Parrots don't make good pets. They are simply too needy if you wan them to live a happy and fulfilled life.

@@arhamshahid5015 crows definitely have complex social bonds and language (well, with each other.) crows are extremely clever, they can remember faces, use tools, will pass down information through generations, and will even hold "funerals" for dead crows. crows are extremely social, and some crows will have other crows that they prefer to hang out with. also: crows can learn to mimic human speech! so yeah, both parrots and crows are very smart, but crows definitely take the prize for the smarter bird. they're really great animals!

@@arhamshahid5015 Crows are demonstrably more intelligent. They are famous for it. They also have surprisingly complex social interactions, incredible memories, can make their own tools and a whole lot of more interesting stuff. I think you might find them pretty fascinating birds, too. I recommend checking it out. It's really interesting stuff. Oh, and even wild ones can also talk like a human (not as well as a parrot, though). They're just not known for it. And I agree parrots are intelligent beautiful creatures. EDIT: I might have to change what I said about ravens not talking as well as parrots. I just saw a talking raven video that made my jaw drop.

@d.e.b.b57885 жыл бұрын
They will learn phrases in order to emulate us. For example, when I realized my parrot would duplicate a belch, I simply said, 'excuse me' whenever I burped. Inside of a few months, the bird would excuse himself after he made the burp sound. Freaks out people when he does it.
