DEFINATELY,...THE GREATEST, MOST INCREDIBLE SUBMARINE OF ALL TIME..."THE SUPER SUB"!!!!!!

I actually had a working model of the Seaview I got through an advertisement that was on a cereal box when I was small. It was about 10 inches long and had a hidden compartment where you put in a tablespoon of baking soda and it would react with the water to make bubbles like it was really cruising along in the bathtub. That was fun...lol

My girlfriends would have ostracized me but I loved the Seaview. It was so beautiful I imagined living on it. To this day I have a model and poster of the schematics. I grew up in St. Louis and one day as I drove down Florissant Rd I nearly wrecked because there out in the playground of a daycare was a model of the Seaview! Turns out it was reproduced to scale by an engineer who worked for McDonnell Douglas in St Louis. The model shown in the series was 8 ft long eventually ended up in a museum in Portland OR I think but since has gone into moth balls. If I were a billionaire I would make a replica that could take people on an excursion and cast the immediate crew to look as close to the original as possible.

Most don’t realize the flying sub was originally built to operate with the fins underneath. They decided to flip it to fins on top it had a better look.

I introduced this very show back in 1969! I was on a local Philadelphia kids' show called "Wee Willie Webber" on PHL17. I think by then, Voyage was in reruns but it was my 1st moment on local TV when I was 9 years old. My Cub Scout Pack was there for a taping after school and I was able to watch myself on TV at 6 pm when the show aired. 😀

Lovely craftsmanship. The one thing I never understood is that the sub had torpedoes but these are never shown on the model. In one episode i think it was Crane gave the order to fire stern tubes, So both front and aft tubes.

Hi, Keith. On the Seaview where did the torpedos leave the sub? As they only showed the torpedos comming from under the Seaview. With the camera pointing toeards the observation nose. And Seaview was tilted towards the camera so you could not see the bottom of the ship when they where fired forward.. I love your Diorama it so show perfect. You did a great job. Stay safe to you and your loved ones.

OMG, it even has an interior! Beautifully done! How big is it? Is it scratch-built? Based on a kit? Outstanding work!
@qakeith7 ай бұрын
It’s a kit and it’s about 39 inches long. I didn’t care for it just sitting on its original stand so I made the diorama instead. Thanks for the nice comment.

Thanks so much. Yes, I made the entire diorama and model myself. I do a lot of dioramas on my N scale train layout, so I was familiar with using the products that I did. The only thing I added that I didn’t make with a plastic aquarium plants. I think it came out pretty cool though especially with the lighting. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Thanks so much, I would like to keep it though, sorry. I love looking at it in my man cave! Just thought it up one night trying to get to sleep. I have a lot of model train diorama building supplies and it incorporates a lot of the base materials, i.e. sculpting plaster, foam board, etc. The outer coating is a granite look spray paint. The plants are artificial aquarium plants.
