Regrettably, I discovered the cruising lifestyle too late in life, but I enjoy watching those who are fortunate enough to sail the world. If I could have another chance at life, I would certainly plan to experience it from the Garcia exploration 45. It seems like an amazing boat.

If I had your boat I would set it up the same way right down to not getting a washer dryer combo. Awesome boat, awesome tour. The only thing you could do differently to make it perfect is a hardtop with a couple more solar panels. It would be a huge time and money investment and I would be hard pressed finding enough of both those things right now. Kids and job and what not but that boat is definitely my 10 year plan

Thank you! The solar panels we wave work very well. They provide about 1300 Watt. But more is always better :-)

We did 17'000 NM since Oct 2023 - and still think it's an awesome boat. Perfect for us.

Can't wait to see the Exploration 52 in Annapolis in a few weeks. That would be my dream boat but since I can't afford it, I am seriously considering retiring in an Exploration 45, which is a bit more affordable. My main concern is that there have been by now a few cases of 45s who developed problems with the Penta gearbox, and with compass water leaks. Any thoughts?

If you are sailing mostly as a couple, the 45 is great. The VP gearbox has been an issue, but it seems that the latest recall by VP has resolved this.

@@Andre-yu3qs I expect they are a little like myself, I am in my seventies. I was born in Britain, I have spent 10 years travelling, I have lived in Australia for 34 years. I have two passports. Where am I from? The boat is wearing a Swiss flag.
