So uh, when's part 3 happening? I'm really interested in this.

The game is top notch and so is the video. It helped me to choose a vpn like hide expert vpn and now I enjoy gaming

What a pain! Reminds me of when I was trying to bridge PPP Dreamcast games over my cable Ethernet connection via my Linux machine. Thanks for trying to preserve retro multiplayer, and congrats on making it work!

How the heck do you know all this info haha nuts man, guessing you went to school or trained at work for internet? lol Mad scientist.

Wish you would make more of these. I think you are the only game youtuber I know that goes into the OSI model. lol
@amurorae51374 жыл бұрын
Nice project, could this be done with fighting games? For example if you set one cabinet as player one and the other as player 2. They would only really sync when both players are playing and not in arcade mode due to random CPU opponent selection. Do you think it's possible?
@loubilly8 жыл бұрын
really cool that this could work
@djsquibby7 жыл бұрын
Hi cool video did you make any more parts, I've seen parts 1 & 2?
@Chudhole8 жыл бұрын
Looks great. Would probably work for many link able machines.

Bring it on! Ready for a trial run here with the Flux Capacitor Arcade!
@Thevinylhouse8 жыл бұрын
really great job!! so your bridging the interfaces because the data is some proprietary protocol?
@arcadeimpossible8 жыл бұрын
data is only layer 2 network frames. doesn't talk IP so it can't natively traverse past the local LAN. The vpn encapsulates it so it can go over the internet via VPN traffic.
@Thevinylhouse8 жыл бұрын
ahh, ok, great idea

Well done! Are you streaming that data through openvpn over UDP?
@arcadeimpossible8 жыл бұрын

Would this work for PS2 and get Battlefield 2 Modern Combat multiplayer over VPN?
@arcadeimpossible8 жыл бұрын
not sure. if it is LAN, then yes
@RDJ1348 жыл бұрын
Yes this should work, back in the day i used Xlink Kai (www.teamxlink.co.uk/) to connect with other people on the Xbox and the PS2 in a LAN setting. As lang your game supports SystemLink you can lan consoles/arcades etc etc.
@juntistik8 жыл бұрын
Can Confirm. People are still playing Socom II on ps2 with xlink kai.
4 жыл бұрын
@@RDJ134 Do you think Xlink Kai would work with arcade too?
@RDJ1344 жыл бұрын
@ If the game supports SystemLink (LAN Playing) it is a yes. The list with games that are supported can be found on: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_System_Link_games

The WiFi will give you more latency, I would connect the pie with ethernet to your router
@arcadeimpossible8 жыл бұрын
need Ethernet for the rushes. plus all wired equals more hassle
@nicoful868 жыл бұрын
it might be interesting to use powerline (broadcasted ethernet via power outlets of your residence) for reduced latency, of course depending on how high latency the wifi have now.
@MetalTiger888 жыл бұрын
good job =)
@frankkesel72528 жыл бұрын
hey 2thumbs up greg . why not used your own ips / server ?
@arcadeimpossible8 жыл бұрын
I thought about it. But centrally hosting it keeps it up 24/7, even if I don't want to play. keeps my network secure and unexposed. and the pi to vpn also keeps everyone's home network separate from the rush vpn network
