Maybe you are stupid for seeing only what you wish to see. One ride would not make the man rich. Even if he refused 10 rides a day while still working 12 hour shifts, it would be a meaningless loss to one already living in poverty. Only money leads to more money, hard work makes rich people richer. Believing it is the other way round is a silly little fairy tale to keep workers content and maintain the status quo of who is rich and controls the resources.

This documentary was made in 2011. In 2015, China's gdp per capita was over $8,000 (nominal), or $15,000 (PPP). So every year, China makes crazy amount of progress. People don't realize how incredible 6 - 7% overall GDP growth is for the world's second largest economy.

Well done, Arvin. I can always find that one person who knows how to find the truth, in a sea of people swimming in lies. It's shocking how ignorant people allow themselves to be... China's economy is a lock to keep getting stronger, while America's is a lock to crumble. Only propagandists would consider telling you otherwise...

May I know when is this filmed exactly? According to the construction worker, he said he has been working there for 7-8 years starting from 2003, so does that mean this film was originally created back in 2011-2012? Thanks!

Seems really old to me. The taxi driver talked about "since 2005" etc etc meaning it's filmed close to 2005 but the subtitle says "during the last few years" without mentioning 2005. Also, judging from the GDP per capita number quoted, it also puts the documentary around the year 2009 to 2010 ($4100 in 2009, $8200 in 2016). Regardless of the outdated information, at the very least, you can take a poor person, a taxi driver and a businessman from any country and film something very similar.

The real estate mogul, the fairly well off upper middle class car sales men and a construction worker living in their different worlds and lives yet their fate are all intertwined with the bubble. How poetic. I feel the taxi driver takes on the archetype of the joker. Spectating and laughing at its own demise. Sarcasm at its best.

you can see nothing but the complete and utter insanity of the whole monetary system once you learn about the Venus projects idea of a non monetary Resource based economic system and can understand how that system would work. ...all you can think about once you understand that idea is how completely mad a monetary system is ....it stands out like a sore thumb .
@mrmtn378 жыл бұрын
Peter Jolliffe Hell yeah any idea to try would be more logical then this absolutely insane system of wall street theifs, corporate oligachy, military, all racketeers plundering across the globe with total disregard for logic or humanity. Its so sweet i love capitalists, love to usem for target practice.

Right on, Peter! The future of humanity will not involve currency... just not sure how far off that future is. Probably too far for any of us to experience it...
@kenanalcantara73978 жыл бұрын
Peter Jolliffe I think it would take hundreds of years in order for our society to accept a resource based economy. But I think it is impossible today because we are a divided species the Venus project will only work on a new world order scenario like the world in Star Trek it would be trouble for a single country to adopt RBE while other countries are still using the monetary system .It will be hard for an RBE country because on a RBE system consumption will be more increased because everything will be free and people would just consume consume and consume and it will be hard for a single country to meet on the demand. But I still like the concept because everyone will be equal in this system no more poor or rich and everone will have equal share of the world resources.

Chinese have discipline, pride, no significant corruption and are diligent workers. We haven't see the Chinese economic miracle yet. The average income is similar to many African countries. However there is a incredible huge economic inequality. What westerns admire are a handful of developed cities and a very small portion of wealthy Chinese. The mainland China will inevitably be as reach as rich as Taiwan and Hong Kong.

If this is true, that is a very very bad mistake to make. There's a different picture painted in knowing those people make 120 euro as opposed to 600 - 1000 euro. Still on the low side, but not as low as many other developing parts of the world and if you factor in purchasing power of essentials (not luxury goods most in the developed nations can't afford either) it should be quite a good middle class income.

Subtitles are very much appreciated! But since the Chinese government have implemented many new strategies to improve on the problems stated in this dated video, it is frustrating to watch, and unfair to those who have been making huge efforts to improve lives in China. It is true however, that the gap between the rich and poor is not a problem that will be going away anytime soon, but this is not a problem unique to China. How about producing a video on the new reverse trend of people returning to their villages to start their small business, their struggles and victories? And how that changes the countryside?

China is so like India.Being an Indian I am able to relate to the anguish that poor and lower middle class feel towards the upper strata. It's was wonderful docu which does complete justice to the subject.

I feel bad for the taxi driver, he needs to read rich dad poor dad, he seems to rely on the government/social economic progress to measure his success. I hope the scaffolder will find his way out.

These so-called independent economists are so ridiculous. China's GDP per capita is 8000 dollars, and he thought it is 4000 dollars.

Drew Lowry are you sure? so why they uploaded now if this video was recorded 8 years ago? what Chinese economy today have to do 8 years old video back then?

Then why release it in 2017? Right now the PPP of China is 18.000. They are almost a third of what the west is in real purchasing power. A Chinese that is hard working have better quality of life than the average American. Not that I like china for it's politics, but economically the people work really hard and get compensated for it. China will become a first world country like Japan and Korea in 10-15 years for sure.

in the present time.of.china you have to work 200 years old to obtain a principal housing.
The most amazing thing is that the pollution in Beijing makes any photography possible. If you're #1 in China, you *might* be #1 ... in China.

It Chinese government, on the surface that is the market economy, in fact, or that a planned economy. Government intervention in the market things less what. I think the bubble will not break. Because of government intervention, if one day the bubble is broken, it will be like the former Soviet Union. The whole state machine the fast pace of development will be broken down!

I have always though its an economic bubble, a fake
@YTofuable8 жыл бұрын
bubble ≠ fake. You have always thought the two are the same? Then you have always been wrong, my friend :) :). Here's what a bubble is: a real-estate with 1 Million $ market worth and you decide to put the price tag at 3 Million for sale. The extra 2 Million is the bubble. What happens when the bubble bursts? The house is gone? Your real-estate just pops into dust? Obviously NOT. So what exactly does it mean when a bubble bursts? It means, the 2 Million is gone. The market price is back to the real worth of the house, 1 Million. You aren't able to sell it at 3 Million no more, but at its real worth. Get it? You won't lose anything, your real-estate is still there, you'd still get rich by selling it, it's just that it's not gonna make you 3 times richer. But if you're a buyer, you might be able to afford it, because you don't need to pay 3 times more money. So bursting bubbles are NOT necessarily a bad thing. It brings equilibrium to the much over-inflated market down to its proper worth. Get it now? All this time you have always thought about China, you could have spent it on learning what economy really is... and a little bit on your spelling and grammar. :) :)

I think China has a problem. Anybody remember the housing bubble here? Banks were lending money to anyone. After a while people had multiple homes that they expected to flip to make profit on. After a while, the homes were so expensive that no one could afford one but the investors thought and expected people to still buy. Not........The other thing is that if you notice is that everyone is trying to buy cars from elsewhere to show status. Why doesnt China make things that people within and elsewhere desire for quality. China makes things fast and cheap. Thats the only thing that they are noted for. With all those factories comes all the smog and pollution. Id say build at least a couple things that people desire elsewhere.We all know about the cheap scooters. I maybe wrong but im just trying to think out loud. You can help me if im wrong which i probably am but dont hurt me lol........peace
