I just got my car[ 08 350z] from the Nissan dealer. Had a major leak turn out it was the water pump. Quoted me 1600$ for the 9 hour job. They call me back the next day that my Gallery gaskets were bad and a new thermostat needed. , they ask me if i ever had a low oil pressure light on i told them i never did but i do remember seeing my oil pressure really low like 10-20. Never even heard what a gallery gasket was till now and just gotta say thats alot of work and i would go insane even attempting this. So now i feel better for paying 2000$ at the dealer knowing all this work it takes.

@@tuned_tunas When i picked up my car the coolant level, in the expansion tank, was at MAX, since then, I've driven about 200 miles and have noticed that coolant level in the expansion tank is now between MIN and MAX. Should I be concerned that now I'm losing coolant in the expansion tank? Should i call the mechanic and let him know or should i wait and see if it goes down pass the LOW line? All in all, the car is running like new, and maybe I'm just paranoid now with some sort of Coolant PTSD, but man, this is freaking me out. hi. I bought a chiseled crankshaft and then bought inserts for it. I also changed the gallery gaskets. I measured the pressure on a 5w40 synthetic and showed 0.75 bar (11 psi) when fully warmed up. Is it not enough? are the liners bought after buying a wasted crankshaft to blame for everything?

After driving for about an hour the car gets stable . @tuned_tunas 2 жыл бұрын
350z have a gauge so that’s how I could tell that they were out. Oil pressure was only hitting 90psi when it should be hitting 120 easily. With that being said your issue sounds a lot different. Maybe clean throttle bodies and maf sensors. See what that does. Is there any codes ??

@@tuned_tunas When I bought my Z for $3500. It had a carbon hatch, 18x13 rears and 18x10 fronts SSR wheels, full HKS exhaust, and Carbeua seats. The engine was out but it came with 2 engines with manual transmissions and a Rev-up doner car with blown motor in stock automatic trim. The Z I decided to built was the early 2003 edition in Nismo trim. So for $3500 my rabbit hole has gotten pretty deep

First we stripped the head of the bolt. Then we snapped the bolt trying to take it out with a bolt extractor. So we rethreaded the hole and it wasn’t tightening to spec. Kept getting loose so I figured that instead of having to enlarge just one. I rather have it be done right.

Hey Tony, I’m getting an engine swap due to my hr having rod knock due to gallery gasket leak. But because of the expense of doing full timing job and it not being necessary on a 70k mile engine, just want to confirm, can the gallery gasket job be done on its own ie without doing any of the timing? And if so is there anything you think is highly recommended to do at the same time like guides or tensioners or water pump. Basically the minimum effective job for a 70km engine purely as maintenance while the engine is out. Thx brother.
@tuned_tunas
@tuned_tunas 3 жыл бұрын
You have to take off the timing chain to do the gallery gaskets. So you will either need to mark where they are before you take it off. Or use the markings already on it and align everything back up. I kept the same water pump. I would only see you needing to replace it if the pulley is loose.
