Hey boost love your videos. You're so right about supercharging the VQ. I had a 2015 Q50 Red S and I wanted to SC it after I had it for 3 months. Then I read about the transmission needing work to handle the extra power and that killed my plans. I could stomach 7k for the power but another 4k for the tranny upgrades was too much. So I went with a catback exhaust, Z1 manifold and Specialty-Z ECUtek tune instead. Ran it that way until way until I traded it on a 2017 Red Sport.

@@SoHoDon_718 Dipped into the low 4 sec range, you need an aftermarket tq converter to get past the 1900 rpm stall. SC VQs really shine on the highway rather than launches. 165-170mph comes with ease

I have to say tho boost, sounds like the same list of cons one might come up with in discussing tuning the 3.0t. Weak trans, blowing turbos, strain on motor, heat soak like nobody’s business, tuning concerns. So I would say it’s not necessarily just cons of going forced induction on a 3.7 but cons of forced induction. Period.

3.0t has a trans that has held up to pass 50k with close to 500 lbs of torque. turbos usually last about 40k-100k depending on abuse. its better to by a oem turbo car because most of these kinks are ironed.

Boost In Motion Yeah but when you’re increasing boost 2x or 3x or more, all that goes out the window. There is some cushion built in, but not that much. But like I said that’s for any platform-when you start pushing past factory parameters, your chances of running into issues increases. Also just got some not so good feedback about level 10 transmissions too-supercharged VQ blew through a couple of them. Need some more alternatives!

True comments. You make a good case but there is always a but. Lol. A gtr is supposed to be fast and beat a g37 we know that. My 3.0t is supposed to beat my g37. But it just something different when you take a supposedly slower car a beat the faster car. So people will spend and don’t mind spending the money to do just that. I never went fi with my 3.7 but just saying it’s just something about the turtle crossing the finish line first that make for these crazy car builds that we see.

That's the truth. I love my Hybrid. My first NA-ish car with all the boost and no turbo or SC maintenance issues. And it's the same lbs as the 3.0t but with +60hp electric always on tap. And I'm getting 4-cyl gas mileage too.

Boi you hit that dead on the head. thats why i spend what im spending on VQ37. IN Charlotte, concord and mooresville ( race city) WE RACE. got tracks to choices from and we race, 4 lane quarter mile, 2 lane quarter mile, 8th mile and when we want to make left and right turn we go to VA or GA. . its way too many cars on a daily running over 500hp for fun. hell STRs start at 485hp. i got to get a turbo just to get on the court and play. its go big or stay home down here. got to play to play.

Soho has a kit for the vq35 thats air to air and you should do the necessary mods to take the hp and torque that the supercharger would provide. Its a given that you have to tune it after the install you are changing the ratio the motor is running at

Buy a Top Guns or SOHO kit from the start and those kits are cheaper than Stillen kits while providing air-to-air inter-cooling. You'll still need larger injectors, a large fuel pump and an oil cooler (plus a new clutch), but I have never heard of increasing/upgrading the oil pump. I have a six-speed 370z pushing well over 650whp and 470wtq on flex fuel. I have the Top Guns A2A Ace Kit.

@@DJYAMIN107 The kit is doing fine, but the motor eventually gave out. I was at over 650 whp and over 470 wtq on a stock high compression engine, so it was just a matter of time. I have a built motor waiting to be dropped in, but scheduling has been a pain.

I would advise going turbo. I had a car with a blower and the main drawbacks are efficiency and heat. Regarding efficiency, the SC is run off the engine and has a fair amount of parasitic loss. The heat is worse where if your intercooling is insufficient you will grenade the engine. SC's are really applicable to drag cars where they run once and ice down the blower between runs. On a track car or heavily driven street car they are a pain in the ass.

which transmission? my AT had no issues, my car was SC'd but it isn't anymore and the trans has almost 230k on it. MT cars deff need at least a clutch upgrade, i never had a SC MT so idk i didn't have an A2A intercooler and my car was only fun in the winter :((( heat soak is a bitch

il if it was me I would go ahead and buy the level ten transmission first. also, you have to remember the stress on the front crank journals from the supercharger built it's not so much the torque the supercharger belt putting stress on the crank

Thanks for your beneficial videos man but something to note You didn’t take in consideration that companies will try to improve these kits, and in this vid you only judged based on stillen kit only while there is another ways to supercharge a vq37 , in 2022 soho has introduced a new supercharger kit for 7000$ (1000$ for fuel pump and injectors and a tune ) which can push 600+whp out of the vq37 and with a transmission high grip clutches which doesn’t cost a lot and because of the way this transmission is built doesn’t require a lot of time to be done and a transmission tune it can take all of that torque no problem so let’s summarize (7000$ for the kit 1000$ for injectors, fuel pump, ecutech tune (these prices are on their website btw) that takes us to 8000$ and another 1500$ for the rest of the stuff like diff brace high grip transmission clutches and if you want you can ask them to put a smaller pulley and people have squeezed out 680whp that’s only for 8000$ if we didn’t mention the transmission, another thing is that the (block) on the vq37 has achieved 1300hp maybe whp am not sure which is a figure that can’t be achieved by the vr30 not even in a million years

Factory turbos on a 2018 and aftermarket SC on a 2013-17 wouldn't be fair nor accurate comparison. Spending 10g buying, installing and tuning vs Factory installed. And on that point the SC will be making way more hp.

@@andywu8558 I bought a used car already supercharged. The car had an uprev tune and was tuned by a shop in Pennsylvania. This was all done prior to my purchasing the car. In the approximately 1k miles I did on the car I mostly drove it on the street regularly. Sure I used the power at times but I never rode out a gear till redline, and I definitely didnt cause the car to blow by my driving. Something had to have gone catastrophically wrong. Here is how the car blew. I was leaving the gym and I turned on the car. As I was leaving the parking lot i felt something but I wasn't sure what it was. I made the right onto the on ramp to the highway, in 2nd gear I accelerated, at approximately 4500 - 5k rpm right before I was going to shift, I heard a loud explosion or crack, then a clicking noise. I drove the car right off the next exit and the engine had already been leaking oil and starting to smoke. The car was still idling which is crazy and the car made it all the way to a parking spot. Called the tow truck and had it towed home. I purchased a used long block engine, and had a shop install it by me. Idk if they did a good job tbh. I am supposed to get the car back shortly actually. Are you local to NYC/ nj?

The base 370z non rev matching is actually the cd009 just have different transmission code but it is the cd009 the internals from 350z cd009 and base 370z non rev matching transmission internals are compatible. The rev match transmission manual is not cd009 it is new from inside out the internals are non compatible at all due to the ECU inside the transmission.

Hey Boost, i have a 2013 G37s MT and just bought a stillen supercharger, turn key. Im in Cali so cant have it tuned for more pwr. Should i expect any issues out the box? Not going to track or street racing. Just want more "Go" and be able to hurt some feelings every now and then.

U can upgrade your charger pulley but you probably know that by now. Gearbox on the G37 is durable. The auto trans needs an expensive upgrade. Carbon fiber driveshaft will give your car the extra zip to match the rest of the upgrades.

I would recommend buying a used kit and just have the blower rebuilt. You can find one of those for quite cheap. Then do the gallery gasket oil pump and a lower temperature thermostat.
