I suggest doing coils packs as well if doing valve covers since it's already tore down that far. As for common issues 05-early 10 timing chain guides they were even recalled for the issue

Hello I have a 07 Nissan Xterra SE nismo. I just had to replace the VALVE BODY in trans oil pan. When the issue happened was it never started up. All dash lights head lights came on, it was NO Crank NO start. Replaced All fuses expect relay. Replaced underwood and fuse box by glove compartment. Still no start. But took it for Dianostic reading. Ok so There's ECM (engine control module) TCM that is with Valve Body. My question is ON A VALVE BODY instead of the whole valve body can TCM be the main part to replace. Or you have to replace the whole valve body with TCM / soloids. Also from all Ecm, Bcm, Pcm, etc.. which one would hold odometer reading history? Because there's a jump that accused from June 24,2024 to July 9,2024 of around 300 miles more. Remember the DID NOT START NOT EVEN WITH A JUMP. let me give u the way it accorded. May 11,24 odometer 181,256 May 28,24 Xterra broke, no movement. June 24,24 odometer reading 181,258. July odometer reading from Nissan dealership 181,626 .🤔 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔... I'm confused.

I've run my 07 Xterra bought in 2011 from 80k to 240k. Just replace a couple of plugs and coil packs after reading a P0300 code. Still running smooth. Haven't done timing chains/tensioners yet but maybe this winter.

Why do you need the liquid gasket for replacing the valve covers? I don't remember that in the factory service manual.
@PaulHenreid7 күн бұрын
There are two spots in the front corners that Nissan factory service manual calls for liquid gasket. Also, there is no timing cover gasket, so liquid gasket does the whole job if the timing cover is removed.

Biggest issue: cracking radiators that mix the coolant and ATF. Also, oil pressure sending units.
@nissanpartscc2 жыл бұрын
Gotta replace that radiator before its an issue, but yes this was common place in the mid-00's for sure. We had transmissions, radiators, and everything else in-stock.
@JTube5712 жыл бұрын
@@nissanpartscc I just picked up a '06 Pathfinder with 68k miles on it and the part number on the radiator matches one of the 'bad' ones. I think my plan is to just install an external cooler for the trans and bypass the radiator.
@ItchyKneeSon Жыл бұрын
@@JTube571 The issue was fixed in 2010, if I remember correctly. If you replace the radiator with a new aftermarket one, the issue is solved. The heat exchanger, that corrodes and causes the SMOD, inside the radiator is also there to heat the trans fluid up to operating temp. It's a bit of a pain to replace, but arguably better than adding an exterior cooler. With that said, others have done an exterior cooler. I just don't know what kind of detrimental effects it's had on their transmissions. Maybe none...
@JTube571 Жыл бұрын
@@ItchyKneeSon they already have an external cooler stock. The radiator is just there to warm the fluid in cold climates.

I've got a 13 Frontier with the 4.0. I have done the rear axle, crank & cam sensors, and timing chain and VVT assemblies, which cost almost $4000. Also, broken exhaust manifold, which looks like the one you have there. I have 125K miles on it presently. It runs good now. I guess that I can expect the valve covers to go next. I'm hoping that the transmission holds up. I don't abuse it or take it off road. This seems to me to be less than reliable.

Having an issue with my 4.0 in my 6MT Pro-4x. Every now and then around 2500-3000rpm I hear a noise just as I’m about to shift. Sounds like a top end noise like a collapsed lifter. Treated it with Seafoam in the oil and through a vacuum line and it’s definitely gotten better/happening less often but it’s still there. Any chance y’all have an idea what this may be? Do these motors even have hydraulic lifters? Am I chasing the wrong issue? I’ve listened to videos of the timing chain noises and it doesn’t sound the same. Thanks for any input!
