Kudos to you NIck!! You're an angel to us, Veterans!! My interview was last Friday, May 2. I came prepared based on the information and had a script to fit my situation and SCD. In less than 30 minutes, I got approved. My counselor was so understanding and he did all the talking. I got approved for a bachelor's degree in Information Technology.

watch the videos, over and over and over and don’t take no for an answer! Go in prepared! I was initially denied and then accepted in the same week for an advance degree!

Issue is the self employment these days has changed I was told from back in the day VRE. No support or financial etc

If they ever gave money for self-employment, it was over 10 years ago. For as long as I've known about the program, they haven't given any money, but they do give support. In fact, the lowest amount of equipment they will buy has actually gone up since I got mine. It was 25k and now it's 50k

Hi, I usually make them based on # of requests so one may be coming in the future. In the interim, just know, switching schools is not a deal breaker but its really not widely accepted by VR. Just like with everything in VR, it has to be justified. You always want to get permission first, & always give them your justifications, and it needs to be based on your SCDs. Everything in this program centers around your SCDs. So if you're at a school that exacerbates your SCDs because you have to be in traffic too long or because the student teacher ratio is too large in a lot of times they will allow it. But you have to present it the same way you would present anything, with feasibility, logic, and it has to be that you will have a more difficult time reaching your vocational goal if you do NOT switch schools. The caveat for that entire situation is, if there's a problem with the school, you experienced trauma at the school, it lost its accreditation or reputation, some uprising occurred that caused you duress, things like that will usually help your transfer approval.

@@4JInsurance wait, you got approved for law school before taking the LSAT? Because that's a whole new boss level. Just the take LSAT and start school. Don't ask for any equipment until you need it because you piss them off if you ask sooner and you alert them that you're gonna be wanting a lot of stuff. Ask for it as you need it, don't give them a big fat list up front because again, it pisses them off and put some on the defense but if you asked for it every time you need something you should be good to go. Check out video #40 about a week before you start school so you're prepared.

@@iamnicthevet and they can/will pay for LSAT test prep and things of that nature, correct? That's really my primary concern at this stage.

@@4JInsurance they are required to pay for test prep for the bar but they’re not required to pay for test prep to get into law school. I’m actually surprised they approved you without an LSAT score. Did you already sign your IWRP?

I just binge watched all of your videos. I have never done that with any other KZbinr before. But you give fantastic infro and you do it in a way that easy to understand. Thank you for doing this! Tomorrow, I have my initial VR&E meeting to decide if I am entitled. I am curious... does age affect entitlement in any way? I am 61-years-old and my plan is to get a Bachelor degree in Graphic Design and then start my own business designing and creating vinyl decals. I'll admit it... I'm a little nervous about the meeting. It is not person but instead over the computer.

Unfortunately, I do find often that when people are over 50/60 they have a much harder time with the counselors. The bottom line, however, is it is illegal for them to discriminate against you because of your age. They may try to make up other reasons to deny you, but they’ll never admit that it’s your age so you just have to be strategic and hold them accountable. I would present your case for entitlement first and don’t concentrate on the self-employment or graphic aspect unless you absolutely have to. Graphic design is a difficult feel to get into with simply a degree. If you’ve been working in that field or have been doing work on your own for a while and now you need a degree as a little more credential they like that but if you are newly going into graphic design and think you’re gonna get work as a graphic artist, simply because you have that degree (but have no experience), they don’t believe that will happen, and they will hold that against you and they will make up different things instead of telling you the truth. Your best bet is to prove your entitlement 1st and if they try to deny you based on your goal, bring them back around to the entitlement. Then you guys can argue about the path and the goal. I suggest you say what I outlined in video #25, make sure you understand the comebacks from video #3, make sure you use the right language the right way per video #7 and make sure you really take a look at video #36 to counter Their attempts at a denial. Also have your EH/SEH justification letter by your side during the meeting so you can refer to it if necessary. And don’t feel like you have to have it memorized. She/he doesn’t know what you’re looking at. If you look down, you can just say I’m looking at my notes. If you start getting overwhelmed and feel rushed, just tell her can you please slow down a little bit I just wanna make sure I am communicating effectively. Don't allow them to pressure you into having the answers immediately.

I mean I’m confused, I feel I said the same thing when I was getting qualified for my masters. The jobs I did before I said exacerbated my anxiety and ptsd because I was working customer service jobs and had to be around so many people .. but the degree I was getting was for a mental health counselor. I had the same thinking. That’s not the same because I will have clients, not just an influx of people on a daily. I did get approved by the way, thanks to nic the vet

@@wesleyburns8 I watched a lot of nic the vet videos and took notes. Realized what I needed and how I would say that to the VRE counselor. I basically said I need to get re-educated in a field that would not exacerbate my symptoms. I also mentioned that with customer service jobs, you don’t know what to expect from the people that you service. it’s all at random everyday. With a job that I can get trained and educated on , I would be prepared and set up for the clients I take on.

How do I find/communicate with my counselors supervisor? I quoted all the MC28 regulations along with explanations, and she still is saying they cannot supply me with a Standing Desk and Ergo Chair. She is saying "We don't buy furniture" She's also trying to skimp out of a cheap ass laptop. I mentioned their budget and even broke down the cost of my schooling vs the budget and she still isn't cooperating.

I don't have Supervisor information but I have VREO info. Email me your VBA location and I'll send you the information. Make sure you look at video #40 & #36 and you argue your case efficiently with the VRC because if you just jump to the VREO without arguing your case, they'll likely just deny you.

I am confused on what you mean by how the mental and physical work at the proposed job can not cross paths with the work that exacerbated your SCD at your old job? BTW your videos are amazing!

Thank you for your video! I have my first orientation soon and I downloaded your VRC letter from your website, however, it appears it is geared more toward someone who is reapplying. Do you think I should write a letter to support it?

I don't suggest you write a letter on your initial meeting because it reveals your hand, and the element of surprise is more powerful than anything else with these people. I suggest you utilize video #25 and then the EH/SEH justification letter to argue your case, and then video #36 if they still say no. If you are denied, then you can come back with the previously denied letter. But if you want to use that initially, of course, it's your choice, I just don't suggest it.
