Thank you for the VR Dave. I think this is the first one I actually figured out. After I saw Wills I was 90% sure and then the Crandall locked it. Fast fact. There are only 3 Mariners managers with winning records Piniella +129 wins, Scott Servais +38, and Lloyd McClendon +2.

I have playing day cards of all the Mariner managers that have them. For those that don’t, I’ve found other cards for them. I think I’ll look for their manager cards now.

Hey Dave. No relation to the video but I was wondering in the 60s how did you know if you had the entire set complete? Like if last year’s set had 396 cards and this year has 397 how would you know if it was complete??

At the start of the baseball season we had no idea how many cards were in the year’s set. We’d need to pull checklist cards and actually mark on the cards. The cards came out in series throughout the year. We would actually “peak” into the wax pack to see if it was a new series or the same cards we’d pulled already. At our drug store we normally didn’t get the last series of the year, as they opted to start carrying football cards in late summer/early fall. So in fact we had no clue how many cards were in the set and really no way to find out. We also didn’t have any practical way to fill in our sets, therefore for the years I collected (1958-1962 mainly), my sets are probably 75% completed (all pack pulled) except for none in the last series.
