Ah brilliant video response buddy, I'd really struggle to pick a just one favourite on each console I've owned. Well elaborated on and nice choices across the board indeed!🕹🤝🎮 Sorry to hear of the passing of you're best friend. Rest in peace.🍀

A lot of people don't appreciate Vandal Hearts 2. I slightly prefer the first gane, but 2 has its moments 👍
@Tetlee6 ай бұрын
I never understood the criticism for Vandal Hearts 2, in all honesty I'd really put them together in levels of fondness. Both were amazing games but at the time I find the changes made in the sequel pretty refreshing and alot of scope for altering your party around. I really do need to pick the original back up, would have ages ago but its so expensive in nice condition.

You're not going to suddenly appear in my living room ??? But I filled the refridgerator with Canadian Craft Beer just for the occassion !!! My #1 spot on the TI would have to be Attack of the Creepers which features what is easily the best animation of a video game character. He jumps, he slides, he does cartwheels all from that single big red button. The game is unfortunately not available on cartridge, so it would require a floppy drive or modern SD equivalent (FinalGROM99 is of no help here, but a TIPI or NanoPEB will do the trick.) In second place would be the Disk based version of Jumpman Jr (the best game on every system on which it appears) which includes unabridged music and the "Epyx" level missing from the cartrisge version ("Jumkman Jr"). Also Rock Runner is a brilliant disk-based Boulderdash clone, and TI-Runner/Star-Runner clones Lode Runner better than just about anyone else. Honourable mention goes to Tunnels of Doom - the world's first 3D Dungeon crawler. (recommended played under emulation in Turbomode) Until Dungeon Master on the Atari ST over a decade latter, and Grimrock on the PC another 2 decades after that, this was the gold-standard of the dungeon crawler genre. Modern homebrews that top the list are the Rasmus ball-trilogy (Bouncy, Skyway and Obstacle Course) Alex Kidd by The Mole, and of course Turmoil which you've mentioned previously. Finally the TI version of ANY Parker Brothers cartridge is likely the best port available anywhere, along with MS Pacman, Moon Patrol & Shamus from Atarisoft. Retroclouds port of Pitfall would make the list visually, but I really hate the running-jump controls on the TI version which I feel makes it impossible to play. On the Odyssey2, PickAxe Pete, Turtles KC Mumchkin/KrazyChase, and (what may be a strange selection) Golf. Treated as a miniput rather than a Links course, Odyssey Golf provided hours of entertainment. Also, the Odyssey's two player takes on Breakout and Space Invaders, which took existing games and tweaked them to be better than the originals within the contrext of 192 Bytes of console memory. On the Atari 800, there are so many, but the ones that ate most of my time in the 80's were Caverns of Mars, Jumpman (duh!) , Captain Beeble and the 8-bit killer app, Star Raiders that still blows me away every time I play it...immersive 3D spaceflight in the 1970's is a tehnical achievement that remains noteworthy. On the Speccy, Pyjamarama, Jet Set Willy, Manic Miner, Sabre Wulf (a personal favourite), and Knight's Lore. (also acceptable versions of LodeRunner and Boulder Dash) On the Vectrex, there is no contest: Vector Patrol is THE best port of Moon Patrol available anywhere. With new otriginal 3D cut-scenes, enhanced music and a battery backed cartridege that saves game-high and level scores, arcade ports just don't get better that this! Since you went far beyond the vintage market, I thought I'd throw in one last one...for the PC...Portal & Portal 2 both of which get my Cup for best video games of my lifetime. (an honour previously held by the (original) TombRaider franchise - the first three installments anyway) There, I've run out of 8-bit era systems that I have personal experience with (the 16-bit era has its own best-of lists), so I'll end this one quicker than usual. Sorry I broke the 'not 2 or three rule' , but I write as I watch, and you hadn't gotten there yet.
@Tetlee6 ай бұрын
Ah those are some amazing choices, loved reading them. Sadly a few TI games I'll never get to experience but in all honesty there are so many TI games that I love it eas a tough choice. I forgot to mention the speech being the icing on the delicious cake of Parsec. The Vectrex is the one system I would really love to add to my collection at some point, hopefully some day. Taking my TI up for repair this weekend, I'm gonna really miss it! Cheers for watching as always, sorry I couldn't arrive in VR to enjoy one of those Canadian beers being offered, sounds refeshing🤪

A cracking watch particularly hearing about memories of your favourites and of some of the less familiar systems to me. I'll have to play Chaos; the mention of Rebelstar brought back some nice memories from growing up (when I think back it must have been the first turn based computer game I ever played) so I want to see what Chaos is all about. Completely agree with you on Cannon Fodder albeit my time on it was with the PC. I'll have to add Delta's Shadow to the ebay watchlist as am assuming a physical version is a challenging find - looks and sounds amazing from what you showed!! Great stuff as always Lee.
@Tetlee6 ай бұрын
Rebelstar and Rebelstar 2 were both amazing games, but yes you definitely need to play Chaos, it's a masterpiece! Like a simplified fantasy game of Chess 🙂 Cannon Fodder was such a brilliant game, really shined on the Amiga(as I'm sure it did on PC). Yes I suspect getting a physical copy of Deltas Shadow will be tough now, well worth the hunt though, it's brilliant! Cheers for watching Ed👍

Been looking forward to this mate, new you would pick chaos, was my second choice. I love cannon fodder, but my favourite amiga game (that turned up today) was elsewhere on that compilation box... Ooooh fire emblem, the last cube game on my list, as you mentioned, stinking expensive unfortunately. Some cracking choices mate, enjoyed this.

Some great choices here Lee and always enjoy hearing your thoughts on stuff I've never had Was expecting you to pick Parsec when you mentioned the TI-99 I don't have Killer Bees yet, it's one of the few I still need on my list, does look good Totally agree about Super Mario world, stunning game and easily the best platform game ever made, sound choice, Mariokart is equally fantastic on the SNES too I did play a bit of Vandal Hearts back in the day and remember thinking it was good Do you have a USA Wii then as both your FE games are NTSC? Awesome video 👍

This would be an absolute nightmare for me to do. some picks would be very simple and probably boring as I'd probably pick Elite for the BBC, C64 and Amiga and Elite Dangerous for modern PCs and consoles. SNES would also be Marioworld. NES would be Super Mario Bros 3, MegaDrive would be Buck Rogers, MegaCD would be Silpheed, PS2 would be Midway Arcade Treasures, Atari 800XL would probably be Mercenary, Atari VCS would be Raiders of the Lost Ark, Intellivision would be Shark Shark, Colecovision would be Pepper II, VIC20 would be Gridrunner, Amstrad would be The Bard's Tale, Spectrum would be Knightlore, Dragon 32 would be Phantom Slayer, Acorn Electron would be Hopper, Tandy CoCo would be Daungeons of Daggorath.....There's a load more but I'd like to include a couple of Level 9 adventure games which were available on just about every platform-so I'd have Red Moon and Return to Eden. Not forgetting the trusty old TI...Difficult one as I like a lot of the new homebrews more than the old legacy releases. I'll go with TI Invaders though. I know it's just a version of Space invaders but I truly believe it's the best version of it's time and I'm even including the arcade version in that........Great video again Lee and food for thought.
@Tetlee6 ай бұрын
Those are all great choices there Allan, thanks for sharing them🙂👍 Yes TI Invaders would be right up there for me also for the same reason, was always a family favourite that one. The TI homebrew I'd like the most in physical form would be Rasmus Flying Shark, that is perfect! Cheers as always(oh did you see my last pickups vid where I showed the Arcade Shopper games I bought, must say I'm chuffed with those. Hope you got yours by now?
