Great video and great comments. I will reply if I may? 40 years ago I was a trainee draughtsman and learned how to create 2D technical drawings and designs on a drawing board, using a pencil. Over the years, computers and technology advanced without end. I evolved, along with the technology. The skills you learn using traditional methods are so sadly missing when used by younger people who have never undergone traditional training. For sure what you are saying will become reality. However, I believe we should all understand and train and learn the basics, the fundamentals. Then and only then, move on and use this incredible, new technology. I am an older guy now and have recently moved from product design to a new venture using Blender. I share your thoughts but traditional skills will make your VR creations even better. Dg

Not just mice and keyboards... The whole polygon based workflow... The problem you describe with Quill and similar being rough and not usable in traditional 3d game pipelines will vanish when things become fully voxel based: www.atomontage.com/

I think ones we have higher quality tracking and we get better hand controllers (because current tech it's good but not good enough for work) I can see it being useful for artist like myself that do character creation (like for highly interactive processes like sculpting and texturing), however for more technical work (like hard surface modeling, design etc.) I would still use current methods...

Great talk! I agree with you, that VR is/will be a greater thing for Creators rather than the usual consumer. Ofc as well as lowering the gap between the 2 since it's way more intuitive. I have a question: How does a 3D Artist go about choosing the best Headset for 3D Artwork? (especially considering that VR is a very "tactile thing" - you have to experience it to see if it "fits you"), unlike usual software where you see some demos and screen captures of ppl reviewing/using it and you generally get an idea of the capabilities? Any suggestions on what to pick for 3D Artwork (I see that for pc it's mainly HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, but even those have different models, etc)? Anyone has any suggestions to what to look for?

You mention sculpting in vr.. which program? Can Blender be used with VR?

There is some development being done for blender be, but it's still a way off. The VR sculpting tool is called medium
