So far the only issue I have is that I see people are online who are in the group, but I don’t know who or if I can join them. It would be great to be able to join a group and go meet others of the same group that aren’t in a specific group instance, even if it’s an option when setting up the group or one that can be turned on/off. They advertised it as a way to meet like minded people.

I have an Xavier Renegade Angel avatar that I worked REALLY hard to make in SFM 5-6 years ago that I want to play in VrChat but I need someone’s opinion on if it’ll get me banned or not, the avatar has six nipples on the stomach like a dogs. I can easily retexture them into something else but I think it’s funny and if it won’t get me in trouble I’d love to try it. Can I send screenshot to someone’s discord please?

I'm gonna be honest I see a bunch of posts and videos calling this game changing and huge but this just feels like a discord server done in app and less custom/fun. Am I missing something? I've been a player for almost 3 years and it sounds helpful for clubs but like I can't imagine using this as a new user (which a LOT of ppl say this will help with new users finding friends/etc) or using this myself since I'm not a clubber. I do activities and have friend groups but I don't see a benefit of being in/having groups almost at all let alone as huge a deal as people seem to be making it I don't get it TwT

It seems like a big deal: Yes it's kinda like discord directly in vrchat. New users will see other people that belong to groups (or search groups), and will more easily network with people in those groups. That makes it easy to find people with similar interests. Its great for new players, and is great for organizations. It's also great for inviting certain people to an instance (not all friends, or friends of friends, but people who belong to a certain category.

You pretty much nailed it, VRChat is effectively (occasionally interactive) VR chat rooms. There's not a huge use for groups at this moment. In Second Life, groups allowed for permissions like defining who would build on your land, or even who was allowed on your land. You could have enormous community projects where one group of people would come together and build together along a single theme in game. Saying only group members can build would prevent greifing, but still allow non group members to chat along side the builders. Group chat was also wildly useful. Something that would still be very useful in VRChat, since checking discord is not currently convenient.

@@technolus5742 I'm not sure VRChat's current group implementation shows enough of the personality of the people in the groups to really replace finding people and groups on Reddit.

Yes, make it invite only and private group isn't gonna be in the search unless you enter the unique id

2 things about the groups addon. 1 is that the logo looks exactly like the Beam NG drive logo, and the groups system was completly stripped from roblox. everything from creating a group, to hosting things on it and roles and such are completely stripped roblox. i would know. i play both games alot more than normal. call me a nolife but i couldnt care less regardless.
