Just a quick explanation of how to use Poiyomi shader's UV Tile Discard feature.

Actual good Information and i learned to press L.. Honestly that saves so god damn much time thank you, i have like 500H in blender and didn't know that ahaha xD

So it's almost like your toggling each UDIM but every tile is the same texture data 🤔 I know UDIM just means each UV tile can have a different texture, but learning that concept prior made this really easy to understand, Thanks 👍

Such a great tutorial, tips and tricks! I actually got a commission last year to edit this avi, and I didn't know anything abt UV Tile so I redo the whole model, it'll be so much easier to do it with your vid!

I have yet to really start messing with Poiyomi, but now I'm starting to see why it's so praised. Toggles that are performant? Yes please! If I need to do a toggle for quest, what would be the best option with actual rendering performance in mind, blend shapes or bone transforms? I've heard bone transforms are better yet I've never seen anyone do it.

Ah there's one bit that I've been struggling with that isn't shown here - I have the toggles setup, they work with the animator in engine but when I use the gesture wheel in game or simulating it doesn't use the animation. It's setup properly, the bools and states change, it's JUST the animation not playing.

So I've used this for a while now to hide skin under clothing and I've come across a couple of issues: 1) Players who got your shaders off can still see it, so if you are hiding sensitive parts, might want to consider still using blendshapes. 2) If any of these are toggled on (hiding vertices) in unity while uploading, you can get flicker issues when interacting with other shaders/light 3) Mirrors in some worlds have issues rendering these properly, resulting in transparency. 4) Not available on any quest shaders, so if you are making a quest version of your avi, you still got to set up a backup solution for that platform. I'll probably not be using this over blendshapes in the future sadly, at least not until VrChat comes with native fallback shaders that supports it. Something they definitely should do as this has great performance benefits.

Love UDIMs, hope its alright I ask something related, would you still recommend having an upper level reset_all layer for UDIM Discards? Or is the off/on toggles in poiyomi stable enough on their own?

@@CamsAvis a layer near top in the FX layer, animating all udim tiles OFF to ensure it doesn't break? It seemed in poi documentation that was required for UDIMs to work properly using WD Off

@@burncore7301 it's only required if that's what you want to do! You can always just animate things dynamically on a per layer basis

Just a quick question re: "Hardly any reason to use Blendshape Toggles." Am I correct in thinking that Blendshapes and Animations are still the only and best way to create facial expressions?

Those are the best way in my opinion yes! I was speaking more for functional rather than artistic purposes
