World Hopping is honestly underrated! Its my main activity whenever im on VRChat. I also collect avatars - just jumping from world to world and trying different avatars out and seeing what customization they have to offer is a lot of fun imo! It sounds weird writing it out like this but its a fun little hobby of mine. Its like bug collecting.

Nothing weird about it at all! There are some awesome avatars out there. But yes, world hopping is my favorite thing. :3 It's all I ever do when I'm on.

As a desktop user i find this video very helpfull, i remember using the chat function for like a month, thinking people could read it, untill someone called me out that they were not able to read me, my hearth just fell apart 7n7. Also a little tip for dektops, you can lift and point your right arm/hand by setthing your personal mirror to "grabbable", that way you can headpat, punch people, all sort of fun things, just avoid aiming it to the 50 to 80 degree danger margin....
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
Oh yeah! The mirror trick! I learned that one recently. Who knows, maybe I can make a follow-up video of tips for Desktop plays if enough people want it. Though that would have to go on the backburner. Who knows :3

me, a mute, with friends in 2 different languages one of which i dont even speak: "yea i wonder what can help me here, i could use some tips"
@rosariovanegas29428 ай бұрын
I’m a mute how I communicate with friends that don’t speak the same language we can’t understand each other but we draw little things to explain what we are talking about like example have a bad day draw a little face with looks gloomy and draw a sun and what the bad day was about

This is a great approach! Pictures cross all language barriers. Very cute and creative idea!

Within the past few weeks or so I started learning VRASL via a few worlds like Bob64's Experimental Sign Language world and the Helping Hands community and it's been extremely fun and fast to learn with the amount of resources available in VRC. Wasn't expecting to see the sign language community shouted out in one of your videos but it deserves all the praise it can get. Also the outro in City of Liliya, I love that world's vibe so much after seeing it drop this week.
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
Yeah in my initial take I didn't include any of the sign language stuff, hence the weird cut, but while editing I was like "wait, there are even MORE ways you can talk in VR without a mic! I should really shout them out!" So cool that sign language is represented in a VR space. :)

I loved playing on desktop even more then playing in a headset sometimes, vrc is a really cool platform, but just like internet it has a lot of amazing stuff and also has a lot of stupid in a bad sense shit, but its worth it, its like a free third place to hang out with friends and roleplay and meet new people!
@NovaRedux6 ай бұрын
Yeah! There will always be bad no matter where you go but I find it more valuable to focus on the good and embrace that rather than focus on the bad. Like it's good to be aware of but honestly VRChat has brought me so many positive memories and experiences.
@NotShad0w08 ай бұрын
I got friends I still hang out with almost every weekend on my "first" day on VRC, I didn't have a VR and I didn't use a Mic back then. I guess I got pretty lucky lol
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
That's awesome! Yeah you really gotta run into the right people. A lot of people play VRChat for the memes and the interactions and the funnies, but there are plenty of people out there who will happily "adopt" a mute, and make friends with those who are more anxious, shy, or technologically limited. I'm glad you found your group early. ^^

I have tried VRchat a handful of times cause I like people watching, did not know that there was an ingame keyboard
@Illogical.8 ай бұрын
I made my own text to speech program. It's really terrible, but it does work, and can be understood. And you have to write the input phonetically, cause it was originally for a language that isn't compatible with keyboards. We usually use minecraft or MS paint to write in it. I made the tts, cause I didn't want to speak, but I do have a mic.
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
Text to speech is another awesome option for people! There's also speech-to-text-to-speech which is something I've seen some people using, where they talk, it turns that speech into Chat Box input, and then TTS reads it out. Technology is wild, so many options out there for people.

Well arranged video. This video did gave me a bit courage when I went wrong and try to get my first HMD(lol) a few months ago, quite shockly while being social disabled and can basically only using 3-points with limited body-languages, I still being able to be picked up by a good group that's ever dare to get close to the visitor(known atm), so I guess it's true you don't need chat, although I do have VR, though. All you need is to have some sort of the reaction, jump, nod with mouse, emotes, I found there are always good people around, just need some opportunities to meet one and then it expands

I'm glad to hear this video helped push you to give it a go! I'm glad you found your group, it can be really scary at first to put yourself out there but when you find your people it just sticks.

USB if your pc or laptop has a lightning bolt symbol next to the USB C, thats power delivery and that can charge your headset while playing. i plug my headset into a 16 foot usb to my 25 watt phone charger and i can play all day on quest 3 you should have done a segment on communicating as a mute by flailing your hand around and making gestures. you could have someone there and gesture at them, more and more agressivly untill you start smacking them, and then comicaly cut away abruptly lol

based on your description of how desktop vrchat works (my laptop sucks so i don't have any experience with it), it sounds like how the mobile version works, although the mobile version's definitely worse. it's more based on the quest version and it's currently android exclusive, so none of the pc-only worlds/avatars are available, and all very poor-rated avatars are replaced with fallbacks. also, while you can talk using the mic, the only option you have is push-to-talk, which makes moving and turning the camera while talking incredibly annoying.
@Cyn_uzi_doorman8 ай бұрын
The mobile version of vrchat sucks I've been playing it for a while now and i can't even drive a car use my favorite avatars from fandoms i can't even see my friends avatars so it's good for when people can't afford a pc/laptop or a vr headset you'll just be hella limited on what you can do (my bad i don't have good grammar)
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
Yeah it seems like all the limitations of Questie + all the limitations of Desktop, but with even more limitations layered on top. It's good as a last resort option if it's all you have, but you're better off with literally anything else I guess?

will you come out with a backrooms VRC 3 video soon? And I can't use pcvr becuase my co.puter doesn't have the right graphics card so the oculus app refuses to let me use link cable and I have the same cord as you the kuject one

Hey, maybe! I have some videos planned for the near future, but potentially I could revisit the Backrooms Trilogy since I didn't cover the third.

1:03 Hey, I'm a quest 2 user and I kinda wanted to question about this part. I just looked in the apple store- and VRchat doesn't appear on mobile- so how exactly can you play on mobile then?
@NovaRedux2 ай бұрын
Hey, sorry for the confusion! Currently, VRChat is only available on Android. However, there are plans to bring it over to iOS and they're in the closed beta testing phase of it currently. You can read more about it on their blog here: hello.vrchat.com/blog/apple-ios-beta-signup Hope that helps clear up the confusion a little!

valve index
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
I'm by no means an expert on headsets, but I do know that the Valve Index is a popular one. Quite expensive but worth the money from what I understand. Also keep an eye out for Bigscreen Beyond, I hear good things but I don't know anything about it (other than people have talked about it positively). You could also get a Quest 3, though standalone VRChat is still "Quest-only", so you'd need a cord. But apparently the FOV and weight and stuff is good. I got a Quest 2 because it was my cheapest option and it's served me well for the past 3 years. I might upgrade sometime when I have more of an income, though. I'd probably be looking at the Index, personally.

my worst limitation is by far the way the game attempts to load all avatars at once on top of loading the world as well. always crashes my game. either i disable all avatars and lose whatever things that may be happening, or i just end up not playing the game (haven't played in years with this same pc :c
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
So there's actually a fairly new setting that's perfect for you! If you go to your settings and scroll down to "Avatar Culling" this is what you need. You can change how far away from you avatars start loading in from. This way you're not bombarded with tons of avatar loads on startup. This mixed with the Safety Settings and you can actually custom-tailor your experience fairly well regardless of computer specs :)
@Wilker_uwu8 ай бұрын
@@NovaReduxthat sounds pretty cool :3 can i also mess with the queue to make the game actually download and setup just N avatars at a time? it's because the shader compilation is usually the most intensive task that crashes my game.
@NovaRedux8 ай бұрын
@@Wilker_uwu I'll be honest I'm not really an expert on the technical side of things in VRChat, so I'm not entirely sure on that. I just know it's distance-based. There's also an option in your Safety Settings to turn off shaders for people of certain trust levels that might help?
