Vfly is also commonly known as Vapp which stands for V approach . And Vapp= Vref + Wind Factors. Cheers

Excellent channel and content; how should i calculate Vfly when having a tailwind component?
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you found the content interesting! Usually, with Tailwind you simply add 5kt on top of the vref

PilotCLimb firstly great channel! my question is this: if the wind is really low, do you add a basic +5 kts always to Vref? so from any headwind from 0 - 5 kts you add 5kts to Vref and then add the headwind/2 to that?
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your support... When the wind is low you still add 5 KT
@corrosiveshurikenyt
@corrosiveshurikenyt 3 жыл бұрын
Love your videos!! But I do have 1 question. So max wind correction is 20kts generally speaking so if you apply Vref +20 then, the headwind increases by lets say 10-20 kts, will there be a chance of overspeeding the flaps since your airspeed will increase? Thanks!
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for watching!! Your question is great!! Yes, when flying in gusty winds with heavy weight (higher Vref) you might have this threat. Well done!

Thats why you use Vref plus 20 or 15 depending on the operator or maximum flaps plackard speed minus 5 kts ,whichever is lower

And some sources talking about Vref= 1.23x VSr. How to understand different between V stall and V reference stall?
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
Let's say that the Vsr is a safer stall stall speed. Everything being equal, the Vsr is a higher value compared to the Vso.

Thank you for another great video... I am a flight sim enthusiast trying so hard to improve my landing rates. In your Vfly example (160 knots) do you maintain and touch down at this speed or do you bleed off the speed once you're over the threshold and aim to touchdown at VREF?
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question!! You should try to touchdown at the Vref..

Hello! I had a question regarding the best rate of climb on an aircraft. I'd be grateful if you could clear my doubt. My doubts are :Why do aircraft manuals have a specified 'best rate of climb speed'? For eg:A cessna has best roc speed (Vy) of around 74kn. But why not 76 or 80? It will be faster if its more wont it? And what angle does one climb at even if it is at 74kn? At what attitude do you point the nose if you want to fly at Vy?
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question. The problem of having an higher climb speed (as you mentioned) is that your rate of climb will be lower in order to achieve a higher speed. So, you will move forward faster but your rate of climb per minute will be lower..Let me know if I answered your question..
@DSAEAyushSK
@DSAEAyushSK 3 жыл бұрын
@@PILOTCLIMB oh ok. Yes, that answers part of my doubts. But I dont understand at what angle or attitude to pitch the aircraft for Vy to work best? If one pitches too steep then you will stall but if its too shallow then it isnt a very high climb rate. And thank you very much!

What about slow airplanes like a Cessna 172or even slower one? If Vref is 40 knt, then... add 20 knots? I think, this should be calculated another way on another aircraft.
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! The wind correction should be in accordance to the Airplane Flight Manual and Operator Operating Procedures so, it might change from one Aircraft to another and, from one operator to another. However, the general rule is to apply half of the headwind component. Have a great day!

Hi Gabriel, Something I am confused about. I thought we stall at a certain angle of attack, no matter which speed we have. So why do we talk about a stall speed? as all what matters is an angle of attack and critical angle. Thanks a lot
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, the problem is that when you fly slow you need to increase the angle of attack, so if you fly too slow your angle of attack will be very high and above certain values you will stall...

Good Day Capt Gabriele, if let say we have tailwind 12 knots and vref 143 Knots so vfly in these case 143 +12 = 155 Knots, is that correct?
@PILOTCLIMB
@PILOTCLIMB Жыл бұрын
Ciao! In casa of tailwind you don't add knots on the Vref. You add half od the headwind component
