I purchased her program and it was one of my best purchases this year. She's a phenomenal coach. I've learned more in the month I've been working with her than I did in 4 years of choir. She has exercises to help strengthen the voice in every way. I had a problem with my voice cracking but it's much stronger now and unfortunately between work, two preschoolers and founding a charity I do not have time to do it everyday (I'm trying very hard to) like she recommends even so it's quite effective

Healthy Vocal Technique absolutely. One question though: what do you mean by a taller throat space? Do i just envision my throat becoming taller or do i have to make a shift in my neck posture? Thanks again!
@Victoria-Victorious4 жыл бұрын
Taller throat space means a bit more yawn (higher soft palate) as you ascend in in pitch, but do not push the tongue down or let your larynx jump up.

Thats funny, im working on this song also, but throw in unreliable TOO, and rainbows im inclined too PURSUE. Are very dificult notes to hit cleanly.
@plutonium62804 жыл бұрын
@@Victoria-Victorious is the vibrato also coming from the soft palate on higher notes or is it in the throat.? Your awesome.

Hey Vic! I have a dilemma: my low notes seem fine when I'm warming up with lip trills, but after I start doing technical exercises to strengthen my mixed head voice and mixed belt voice, my low notes DISAPPEAR. It's as if the notes have been almost completely replaced by air. I'm pretty sure it's because my belt technique is not solid; I have some degree of congestion every day, so after I start singing the mucus tends to loosen and it really affects both 1) my ability to get a focused, free sound for my mixed belt and 2) a warm, gentle hum for my low notes. I'm just frustrated because frankly, it's quite embarrassing when I sing high and then have to sing a low note and all I hear is gurgling and air and feel tight when singing low notes :( Do you have any exercises that can help me achieve those Whitney Houston-like belts in my upper range? With practice I know I can get there, but I just need the right tools. I think if my mixed belts get better, the mucus won't be "disturbed" as much and I'll be able to improve my low notes. My mid-range is getting better, but around C5 my mixed belt starts losing its focus. Speaking of low notes, do you also have any exercises to strengthen low notes? At least I'll be able to relieve the tension and airiness at the bottom of my range. THANK YOU for reading all of this Victoria! I've watched nearly all your videos and I am so thankful you're sharing your knowledge with us! Can't wait to watch the next one!

Your questions involve several topics. (1) Healthy belting requires a good chest mix, bright ("forward") & edgy vowels, tongue forward, lots of pingy resonance, AND good support. You have to learn how to thin out the chest voice out as you ascend, or you will just be shouting and straining. I don't have a video on belt or bright vowels yet, but I would practice exercises on a speech-like AAH (like American pronunciation of "cat") and AY, feeling the buzz in your cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. Start with spoken exercises. (2) Your issue of weak low notes after belting high is very common. The vocal folds have a different configuration and action in the lower voice compared to upper voice. I could write a lot more about this, but to make it short, I would make sure to practice your entire range and do some octave swings and even 2 octave ascending/descending scales as part of your practice to build up that muscle memory. This can be trained! I will keep this in mind for a future video. (3) Low notes - Again, I would start from speech. It is like talking in a low speaking voice. It should feel thicker and fuller. Then add some ring to it if you want a more finished sound. I look forward to seeing more of you on the channel!

Your vibrato on the higher notes is great, my friend says vibrato should come from the chest and or throat, im thinking thats its more in the soft palate region on high notes , would love to know your thoughts on this matter. thanks.
