Dear Victoria, thank you for shearing your year's of experience of singing and singing techniques , I play guitar and I have always felt that I have a very tiny singing voice , I am hoping by studying, and following along with your programs on youtube I maybe able to pick up some very valuable lessons on growing my voice , I have already experienced a little success , I looked for singing lessons only last week on youtube and picked your channel on lessons for beginners, and that night I couldn't sleep with excitement ! I have already started taking notes and making a folder of my studies. I have also enjoyed watching and hearing you sing on your personal youtube channel Thank you so much again ! Catherine .

I have been singing my whole life, but the challenge I am facing is freeing up my opera voice in the top notes. I know the right vowels but I've never been able to easily get through arias in a comfortable way. I spent most of my singing life in pop music and switched over to classical in my mid 30's. I want to improve my operatic voice.

I've never learnt professional singing b4 but never knew that you could close off the nasal passage way to make your voice sound different. Tried it by pinching my nose to see if it sounded different & it did the first few times, can't believe I've already learnt a few things just by watching one of your video's. Bravo.

@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you so much, I will do that! I am working with a vocal coach who is telling me to make it sound more nasally. I always thought you’re not supposed to sound nasally. Is there a reason the technique I’m being taught could lead into something else when I’m being told to make it nasal and feel it in my nose? Is it a step into another technique?
@Victoria-Victorious7 ай бұрын
I discuss that in my videos on nasality. There are degrees of nasality and sometimes it is part of the style. There is also nasal resonance (different from nasality), which is part of a beautiful tone.

I love these videos! A friend recommended me them and he was right, 10/10 content! Harmonics do create more of a wide sound (something I learned a bit with sound design). I wonder about these harmonics... are they created by a 'mixed voice?' (Combining the lower 'chest' voice with the higher 'head' voice, or falsetto?) I always found singers like Roy Orbison masters of combining that with vibrato, something I feel is extremely dynamic and captivating.
@Victoria-Victorious11 ай бұрын
No, it is much more complex than that. Resonance is created through sound waves and bone conduction, largely a result of the shape of the vocal tract. See my playlist on Resonance..

Where you ever a vocal coach for Hank Jr. Over the last week I've come to really like you, so If I say something that sounds adversarial it's because I'm twice your age and have made countless observations. The most successful artists never took one lesson and knock it outta the park routinely.
@Victoria-Victorious Жыл бұрын
I don't think you are 134 years old, Frank! As far as successful artists that "never took one lesson", that's not necessarily true. A lot don't want to admit that they have had lessons, wanting their fans to think it is all "natural". And for those that never had lessons, like I always say, there are always exceptions to the rule. Great if that works for them, but I teach what works for most singers. If singing is so simple, why would anyone want to take lessons?
