For the free users: you can also minimize the green glow effect by putting a little more distance between your actor and your background. Often, there’s reflection called spill that it really hard to remove.

I havin a mp4 background then a green screen fire video . I figured to to copy and paste my background video to the lenth i want then i Bring in the fire if i try to group them together first then i cant size the fire. If i size the fire first it automatically combines to a background remover bar that is not the same when copied and pasted then what if i want to put something else in between you cant because the backround remover combines your elements to one file im confused

Hello, the editor can only remove solid backgrounds from videos that have a consistent color or texture. Complex or changing backgrounds with various colors and patterns may not be removable. But the editor can cut out objects from photos as an alternative.

i have just purchased pro version however, the chroma key section does not work for me - am i doing something wrong. my green back ground turns black automatically, i can adjust saturation to see it still green though and back to full ... when i produce the end result and try to place in front of video, it still has a black background - not green, nor transparent please help

A lot of green screen objects have a shadow that is removed with the above techniques... BUT... some objects like say a ball, cast a shadow that is wanted in the result. (obviously a simple shape like a ball is easy to fake a shadow but lets say is an odd shape) with the correct angle surface/camera the shadow on the green is prefect... I have seen on other software where the darker green has the effect of a dark shadow in the result. Can this be done in VSDC... so far i have managed to keep the shadow... but only as a green... I guess I could double overlay one as a black mask, and the second on top with the shadow removed (leaving the black mask all but covered by the top object, but the shadow would be the only part still visible.....)... but is there an easier way to turn the green into shadow where the brightest green is transparent, through to the darkest being black...

Usually the shadow is applied with vfx after removing the background. Green screen may affect the light, so it is not recommended to save the shadow from the original file

@@VSDCFreeVideoEditor Thanx for that... I'll have a bit more of a search around as I have seen other green screen tutorials that show the darker green retained as a shadow. VFX is fine except where the shadow is a little more complex like with all the dinosaur green screen freebies that have swing tail shadows etc... a lot easier if I can retain the included shadow... I can make it into a mask but that's a lot of effort.
