Great 👍 guide tour of Takekomi Island in Okinawa Japan 🇯🇵. And 👍 pop up description of the old gas station pumps must be late 70’s or 80’s I thought of late 60’s to.??? Saw mini trucks 🛻 vans and old scooter 🛵 not to many regular cars 🚗. And the bikes 🚴 to. Besides hearing the clock ⏰ 🛎 saying 1pm what I counted could be wrong on that?? The population doesn’t seem to be that large something like one of the prefectures in Japan main island. But I don’t mind that size. Hope you can go back in the summer or one of the other Okinawa places. After nearing the end I thought you should have brought your drone to fly over the beach 🏖 and the ocean 🌊. 👍📲

I love Taketomi island so much that I want to visit any time soon. However drones are strictly prohibited on this island so I can't film fly-over shots. Well, I need to buy one first before I worry about it... Hahaha 😄 Thank you so much for watching!

First time I've heard about Taketomi was in a NHK program (can't remember the name). Ever since then, I wanted to see more of the island, and I'm so glad you've made this video. Thanks for the ride and walk! Here is a piece of trivia I remember from the program: the walls around the houses are not made of stone, but of coral, since the whole island is a big coral reef.
@VSV_Japan3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the trivia! I guess many people don't think carefully (including me! 😄) and they believe they are stone walls because "Ishigaki" (where Taketomi island belongs) literally means "stone wall". 😄I wonder why they named the island like that...They should've named it "Coral Wall" or something close to it to make it easier to understand they are made of coral! 😄😄😄 Anyway thank you so much for watching!

The last time I was on Taketomi island was around 1995. Even back then , there was quite a bit of domestic tourism. I checked google maps, looks like many more accommodations and restaurants on the island. I'm planning a trip back, can you share the name and telephone number of the hotel you stayed at? Thank you
@VSV_Japan3 жыл бұрын
Sure! There are 2 hotels I've ever stayed and both were very good. The following URLs take you to Google Maps and you can see their website addresses there on the left. There are many more so if you are interested I suggest checking on the Google Maps so you can find the locations and visit their websites to compare. ・おーさんてぃん g.page/ohshantin?share ・すかぶら goo.gl/maps/jG7jQnifTGHRcujf8

Guam, a US territory since 1898 is the military’s power projection point as its only 4 short flight hours from the Chinese coastline. If there is to be any attack on Taiwan, the island will play a pivotal point to launch 5 based US submarines and the numerous B bombers from there. America’s largest munitions depot is on Guam and it’s there to contain Japan at one point but it’s now China, a pacing threat to American hegemony.
