As a postman, I can confirm that these are the greatest post boxes you can have. Simply open, drop...done. Much better than most other letterboxes that aren't big enough for parcels or large letters etc

I love the idea and the size of it. PROPER big container so it can fit a few parcels in case you are away for a few days. Brilliant. What I am not sure about is how safe it is because as it's made of wood. I'd trust it more if it was made of 2-3mm sheet metal. Also, from what I see on the time laps video, some of the screws are accessible. I know that parcel thieves go for the grabs and run and will not spend time to stand there starting unscrewing things, but a box the size of this, is also an invitation for the more "determined" ones 🤣, so I'd replace them with dome headed ones. Anyhow, it's appalling in the first place that people have to take this kind of measures, but since that's how it is, that's a great countermeasure.

This box has a potential security flaw. If you cut that piece of rope/twine, the flap will fall and enable someone to possibly grab packages down below. It looks really nice and would probably work great in a good neighborhood without porch pirates.
@badseednut11 ай бұрын
@@arillb1010 Good point. It could be replaced with a hinge or something but again it would be matter of time until someone break it. It still think it's one of the best ideas, but it does need some improvement to make it more proof. Like you said, it would work great in a good neighborhood.

Good Idea. Bad Lock.

It's a start. But realize anyone with a prybar can get through that 2 way entry design. Not to mention wood can be so easily pried when held together with screws and prying doesn't make much noise. Once there thieves will think it's a gold mine because it was designed to protect so you need to be really careful. They will plan because they think there's a lot in there. You don't need to worry about delivery people stealing so a lockable lid made out of steel would be the best. The key is to find the materials as scrap. So it will be different for each area. It's great people are working on this idea though. New houses will come with parcel delivery system built in as well, especially in frigid areas so things don't get damaged sitting outside in cold temperatures for several hours.

how about getting one Feliluke super large pacakge delivery box? with several simple assembly steps, and then you can get a personal package box for home😆

Nice design but you'll need more than a piece of string to secure the security floor flap. Otherwise someone can cut the string and just fish out any parcels they want. Suggest you use metal arms on both sides instead 🙂.

Amazing idea, but the one question I have is would it work for big box packages?
@kirvedx Жыл бұрын
You'd want to take in consideration how fragile they are and whether you would want them being placed in such a way - but it would only be a matter of expanding length or width, or in even more extreme circumstances digging deep enough to accommodate a similar functioning opening large enough to accommodate it with a steep enough slide and enough room for the package to be placed, pushed, and slid down into an accommodating storage area. You could perhaps go ahead and build a taller structure with steps or a ramp leading up instead. But at that point, why not just use Ring or the similar services almost every other courier supports; just get yourself a shed with an automatic door strike or smart deadbolt and let it be controlled by the supporting service. It'd actually be cheaper and safer at that point, and the courier would be happier to deliver to your garage/shed floor rather than lift/push/etc with an extravagant contraption such as that.

Love the concept but that location is a big no for my area. No solid structures can be built 36 inches from the nearest edge of the sidewalk as it is a utility right of way for the municipality, communication and utility companies. Also we have sidewalk plows that need more space than a couple of inches clearance.

😄🤣 New edit, old build. This was built March 2021 before I got the Makita track saw.
The package box is great, but why is the insert tray pulled up by a string? Why is there even an insert tray? If the insert tray is supposed to make it difficult for thieves to steal packages, then the insert tray should not be pulled up by a simple string but must push from bottom to top.
@VincheroKarpintero8 ай бұрын
Actually it's there so that the package slides and drops a lower height. Contrary to many of the comments, it was never really intended to disuade theft. But I do agree that as a security measure/priority, I could have used chain or something.
