We get A LOT of packages delivered to our house and sometimes they get wet or chewed up, no more! Today we show you how to build a package drop box so that when you get all those Amazon or UPS deliveries they have a safe place to put them. If you really wanted to keep the package thief away you could add a padlock and supply the shipper with the code to open the door! All your parcels/packages will stay dry, secure and ready for you to open! Once the package arrives (lol!!) we will hang a sign on the parcel drop box indicating what it is so the delivary personal know what to do. Cute little sign you can find here: amzn.to/2D7kNfb
If you want to build one you can find the plans here: www.diytyler.c...
The wife thought it would be a good challenge to try and build this with only 3 tools, a circular saw, drill and jig saw so that this would be a project that anybody could build. After all everybody gets packages! If I can do it with only 3 tools you can too, I didn't cheat at all!

Ok, I have been doing carpentry a lot of years but really was never trained. I can fake it pretty good but am very slow. I am NOT a carpenter. I'm just cheap. Why pay someone else to do it if I am physically able to do it for myself? And I love tools! I never really knew how to use a speed square... until tonight. I have always sucked at angles. And I did not know about the tilting jigsaw blade. I have so many other projects I want to do now! I can't wait to use my new knowledge! ~subscribed~

FANTASTIC! I want to build one of those. We get amazon daily. My wife is addicted. I have everything but the latch and roofing tar. I love to see videos where the build is with limited tools. I will use my table saw, etc, LOL, but it's great to see the minimalist approach. Thanks, even though I'm a few years late....🧔‍♀

Just today, I was thinking about the need for something like this. In my case, not for weather protection, but for theft deterral. I want to work in a combination door lock so the driver can just put the package in and slam the door, because I don't think they're going to take the time to hang a padlock in the hasp and lock it. Also, when I'm going to have multiple deliveries in one day, I can put the combination in the delivery instructions and they can (if they will) open it easily to put more bling in the box for me. Your design will work well with this idea. Thanks!

Don't forget to put a "Honey Done" list on your refrigerator. I'll bet yours is extra long. Sometimes we don't stop to think what we've accomplished. We just look at all the things people want us to do on the "Honey DO!" list. A "Honey Done" list will remind folks to be grateful you don't golf ALL the time and have only a stack of score cards to show for your time and life.

@@_the_wife_3323 Was at daughter's home just now having the Sunday meal with her and grandson. We talked about what we're going to say about what we're thankful for on Thursday when we meet to celebrate Thanksgiving. If we don't stop to take notice of the good things in our lives, we start thinking everything sucks ... like people seldom take the time to complement, but stop everything to complain.

The challenge is to design a drop box that can accept several package deliveries per day and each package remains secure from theft between deliveries. A padlock or key code instructions just don't work because delivery people won't do it. It's "not in their job description" and and each box they encounter could have different instructions. The box needs to be large enough to accept several reasonably sized packages and still be smaller than a Buick. Forget the use of smart locks, apps and complicated electronics to manage entry as these drive the unit cost sky high. The "Danby Parcel Guard" drop box can accomplish the criteria, but still retails for $550.00
@_the_wife_3323
@_the_wife_3323 4 жыл бұрын
One of our design ideas was a Dropbox much like a library has, slotted and curved but hidden in a bench style. We would open the padlock to retrieve packages and that would be that. Theft of packages with this design might be a problem, but we would have a bigger problem if people wandered onto our property here in the country. So this works beautifully for us. Thanks for watching!

They are. Only 3 power tools is what I was going for, if you've seen the guy's shop. That's like fasting on just water for him.

More than that: 3 power tools, square, pencil, fence board used as a straight edge (which makes it a tool), paint brushes... and of course his brain (they say your brain is your greatest tool). And we'll ignore the screwdriver bit, saw blade, his hands, his eyes and the ground. ;)

I’m calling cheating, you either used paint brushes or a paint roller which are TOOLS. You need to crush this version and do it again giving up either the circular saw or jig saw to use the painting equipment. Jk, great practical build, thanks for sharing.

Christopher Kelly-wow-way to hammer him. Next you’ll object to his use of a speed square and tell him he needs to do it by eye. Don’t forget the utility knife, but I’m guessing he gave himself wiggle room by having all the items in his tool bag. ;) I’d say he built it within the rules he set forth and the painting was his wife’s doing after it was built.
