What Is Needed for a Drive By Wire K Swap
By Brian Gillespie and Aaron Gaghagen
We have been getting a bunch of questions recently about doing K swaps using a drive by wire throttle. There are a few vital parts you will need to make it happen. Brian walks us through everything needed to do so.

You can disable all of the enviromental stuff, as well as tune the stock ECU, in Europe we have Accord euro (same as TSX) with k24a3. And had them tunes on stock ecus for ages, at least from mid 2010s.

Was gonna say I think kpro can tune a lot of that stuff out. It’ll have to if I want my k20z3 to work with 07 tsx stuff in the fit

I wondered why so many K swap people used cable throttles. The DBW is a lot more complex than I thought it would be. I did an LS swap 944 and implementing DBW was pretty simple, I just replaced the throttle pedal and plugged it in. That system has the sensor built into the pedal mechanism and it talks directly to the ECU (PCM). I’m guessing the later Honda systems are simpler like that and this was kind of an interim measure moving from cable to DBW.

You can use a generic DBW throttle body and gas pedal with a sensor. Most of the newer stand alone ECU are ready for DBW.

Another reason why people would keep their cable throttles is because some DBW systems are laggy and have a delayed throttle response. I have an 08 Acura TSX and the DBW in my k24a is just the absolute worst. It’s very difficult to rev match. I plan on changing out my APP sensor to see if it helps and if it doesn’t apparently you can improve your throttle response via FlashPro
@x1tekja
@x1tekja Жыл бұрын
Throttle lag in drive by wire systems is put there by the manufacturer in order to make the car respond smoothly and thus appeal to a broader market. You can flash ecu to change that if sporty spirited driving is what you want.

Currently doing a K20z3 DBW into a 1st gen insight. Yeah theres a lot of fab work to get all those sensors and gauges to communicate but ultimately looking to have a fun sporty daily with good fuel economy.

I have an 05 CR-V with the drive by wire very similar to this. I have yet to ask my tuner what tuning options are. I know he wouldn't use a larger throttle body on the computer controlled Si because it creates problems. These separate dbw must have a better capacity to run the throttle plate motor.

Technically you could make your own if you have Kpro! Maybe I’ll look into doing that, it’s a really cool system. Yeah cable throttle is cool, but that stock RSX cable is awfully long, and they get stretched out and stick sometimes.

Could that third module sensor be the reason of a not completely fine throttle response just like the first pedal position sensor?

I have a fully functioning 2008 Acura TSX swap in my 1997 Honda Accord. Got tired of shops telling me it's not possible because of DBW. I'm stuck trying to use my oem fuel tank with the newer TSX components. I just need a fabricator, if you can recommend one that can help me brian!

In theory, in an EM2 with a K24A1 swap running a kpro. Could the TSX electronic throttle control and throttle body be added to the EM2 and retain cruise functions?
