VTECH 83 - Repairing Victa 4-Stroke 550EX Series Surging an Easy Fix

Yes I realised I said 2-Stroke instead of 4-Stroke. Working on a 4-Stroke by my mind still on the 2-Stroke. Besides also it's not a Classic or Sprint engine. All mixed up with 2-Stroke, Classic and 550EX. LOL

This fix could be a fluke. Why I'm saying this? Because surging is normally directly related to air leak and governor. What I want to do this weekend to visit this mower again and install the old blocked air filter if I can reproduce the engine surging. If not then I think would be the governor control lever was touching on the front metal guard plate. I will do more investigation and reproduce the surging. I will post another video and this time I will surely indicate this is a 4-Stroke. Thanks for watching and following my channel.

My 550EX was running fine until I decided to do a bit of maintenance on it. I did the annual oil replacement, and this time I replaced the air filter (which was filthy like yours) as well as sharpening the blades. Now it's surging. It's the same fuel too. Looks like I'm going to have to check/clean the spark plug, but I know it's going to be a carby issue. I tilted the mower on a 45 degree angle (after removing the oil) to sharpen the blades so I suspect some dirt in the fuel might have gotten into a jet.
